State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce seemed surprised when a journalist informed her that President Trump had nominated Mike Waltz as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, news that came shortly after the appointment of Secretary of State Marco Rubio as interim national security adviser.
It comes hours after reports said Waltz would step down from his role as national security adviser.
