Manning wants Bristol City fans to be proactive against Preston

00:00Bristol City head coach Liam Manning has said that he wants supporters at Ashton Gate to be proactive

00:06and create an atmosphere for their final game of the season.

00:11Well, I think you find out on Saturday, but knowing the group and the conversations we had and reflecting on it,

00:17yeah, the lads will respond in the right way Saturday.

00:19I think if you haven't practised it all year, then it might be more challenging,

00:23but it's something we've spoken around the whole season of bouncing game to game.

00:26It's something I've referenced a lot.

00:28It's not something new for us.

00:29Of course, it was disappointing, but at the same time, I spoke to numerous people and even watching it,

00:35the level of Leeds were at on Monday and their performance was right up there,

00:39what I've seen in the last few years in the Championship, to be fair, I thought they were outstanding.

00:42And then, obviously, the atmosphere, the whole occasion, it was a tough night,

00:47but like I said, we have to move on quickly.

00:49Of course, we take the learning from it, and I think if we can replicate an atmosphere like that on the weekend,

00:56I think it'll only help the lads, I think, you know, and we've definitely found that, I think, in the last few games.

01:00You know, you can feel it around the place, the energy, the buzz, the positivity, and we have to have that Saturday.

01:05I think that's the biggest, you know, it'll be a similar message for the lads,

01:07the same as the, you know, the fans turn up, be proactive, don't wait to see what happens.

01:10And Bristol City player Zach Viner has made clear that they will learn from the atmosphere and performance

01:17that they had against Leeds United on Monday evening,

01:21and will take it into their final game of the season against Preston North End,

01:24knowing that a win will see them qualify for the Championship playoffs.

01:29They're a good team, they showed it, and yeah, that's the level that we want to be getting to,

01:38and we've done that to teams this year as well, and like you say, you know,

01:41we didn't put our best foot forward, and we've got to make sure that we take the sort of clean,

01:47technical, tactical aspects that they had and they implemented on the game,

01:50and we take that into Thursday, Saturday, and hopefully beyond.

01:53We've been good at sort of bouncing back, and like you say, it's coming from, I guess,

02:03a belief in ourselves and an inner belief in individuals, and like you say,

02:08we've got to make sure that we put it right and take what we need to from it

02:12and park what we don't need.
