00:00In a case that has dragged on for over a decade, Bollywood actor Malaika Arora has been given a
00:05final warning by a Mumbai court for repeatedly failing to appear as a witness in a 2012 assault
00:10case involving actor Saif Ali Khan. The latest development came after Malaika skipped yet
00:15another court appearance on 29 April 2025, despite a bailable warrant being issued against her earlier.
00:21Chief Judicial Magistrate K.L. Zanwar expressed displeasure over her absence,
00:25especially since a legal representative was present and aware of the court's summons.
00:32Incident dates back to 22 February 2012 at the Wasabi restaurant inside the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.
00:38Saif Ali Khan was dining with Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora
00:43and a few others when an argument broke out with NRI businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma.
00:48Sharma was reportedly upset about the group's loud behaviour and objected to the disturbance.
00:52According to Sharma, the situation escalated when Saif allegedly punched him in the nose,
00:57breaking it and also assaulted Sharma's father-in-law, Raman Patel.
01:01Saif and two of his friends, Shaqeel Ladakh and Bilal Amrohi were arrested and later released on bail.
01:07Saif has maintained that he acted in self-defense, claiming that Sharma used abusive language towards
01:12the women in his group.
01:15Although Malaika Arora is not an accused, she was present during the incident and is considered
01:20a crucial witness. Her testimony is vital to help the court piece together what really happened
01:25that night. However, since the start of the trial, the case has faced repeated delays,
01:30largely due to the absence of key witnesses, including Malaika.
01:33So far, she has not made any public statements about her failure to appear on court's warnings.
01:40The next hearing is scheduled for July 9, 2025 and the judge has clearly stated that
01:44a non-bailable warrant will be issued if she fails to show up again.
