00:00This year's local election might go down as one of the hottest.
00:04While most took the opportunity to relax in the shade, of course after voting, party campaigners
00:11were putting a sweat on racing for support.
00:14We know the polls have closed.
00:16The question now is who is going to take control of Kent County Council.
00:21Labour's been the latest opposition, most recently having five councillors.
00:26Their party trumped at the general.
00:28Could they take charge locally?
00:31We are hopeful that we will increase the numbers that we have and hold our councillors.
00:38So hopefully we've led a positive campaign so hopefully we can move forward and build
00:43for a shadow election in 27-28.
00:45Unlikely, it sounds.
00:47But how about Reform UK?
00:50After all, some polling puts them in a majority.
00:53What's their feeling?
00:54You can feel it's a different energy.
00:57The other parties have felt almost very silent and muted but we want to see the full figures
01:03and then...
01:04A majority?
01:05That would be great.
01:06And I think people would like that as a change because they're fed up of the same old status
01:09quo.
01:10Let's take a look at the latest controllers.
01:12Conservatives.
01:13They won a whopping 21 seat majority four years ago.
01:18Are they confident?
01:20I think we all know realistically that there are a number of parties in contention and we
01:25will have to see exactly how those results play out in a whole number of individual divisions
01:30across the county.
01:31I think nothing is impossible, there's a whole range of possible outcomes.
01:36Let's see about that then.
01:38On to the Lib Dems.
01:39They've had their leader in the Garden of England this week.
01:42But tell me, a majority is unlikely.
01:45How about forming a coalition though?
01:47I think we've got to wait and see what shakes out once all the votes are counted.
01:50Look at who's elected.
01:51It's not just about the parties, it's about the individuals who are elected.
01:54Look at their policies, compare them to our policies and be willing to listen and work
01:59with people.
02:00I think there are certainly people we're not going to work with.
02:01We're not going to work with reform.
02:02There's no point talking about that.
02:04Very unlikely to work with the Conservatives.
02:06And lastly, the Greens have already ruled out a majority.
02:10You could have a coalition maybe between us and Lib Dems, maybe us and Labour.
02:16The parties you wouldn't, we would certainly not be in coalition with, would be reform and
02:23the Conservatives.
02:24That is a non-starter.
02:2581 seats are up for grabs at Kent County Council and people right across Kent had their opportunity
02:32to have their say at the more than 800 polling stations dotted right across the county.
02:39To win outright, a party needs 41 seats.
02:43But with the current political landscape, the odds of any group hitting that number, slim.
