00:00Greetings, friends. Today we celebrate St. Gianna Molla, hosted by A Blessed Call to Love.
00:09St. Gianna was born in 1922 in Italy. She was a pediatrician, wife, mother, and a woman of deep
00:19faith. From a young age, Gianna was deeply committed to her Catholic faith and to serving
00:25others. She pursued a medical career specializing in pediatrics because she saw it as a way to help
00:32mothers, children, and the elderly. Her work was not just a profession but a vocation where she
00:40combined her medical expertise with her compassion for her patients. In 1955, Gianna married Pietro
00:48Molla and together they had three children. When Gianna became pregnant with her fourth child in
00:541961, doctors discovered a tumor in her uterus. Faced with difficult choices, Gianna insisted
01:02in preserving the life of her unborn child. Even though it put her own life at risk, she
01:08underwent surgery to remove the tumor but refused further treatment that would endanger her pregnancy.
01:14On April 21, 1962, she gave birth to a healthy daughter but complications arose and a week later
01:23on April 28, 1962. Gianna passed away at the age of 39. She was canonized by Pope John Paul II
