00:00Charlie let's look at Aston Villa and obviously you know so much has happened in the last
00:05month or so with their incredible rise to go and beat PSG at home and just fall short in the
00:10Champions League FA Cup Wembley trip didn't go quite to plan Crystal Palace were pretty impeccable
00:16on the day let's just reflect on on their sort of season domestically their achievements so far
00:22I mean you know no matter how the end of the season goes the race for Champions League no
00:28matter how that goes how that pans out they can take so many positives from this season from this
00:33campaign and you know I am raised you know words of saying Villa want to compete Villa want to be
00:38a side back in the Champions League again I mean you can't really doubt him with with how far
00:43they've come so far in such a you know such a short amount of time really. It's incredible when he took
00:50over from Steven Gerrard they were down right in the relegation battle he then got them up into top
00:55half intention got them to Europa Conference League then the Champions League then to go to
01:00the last eight of the Champions League and very nearly turn things around against PSG after that
01:053-1 defeat at the Parc de France that that victory at Villa Park was just incredible the the noise
01:10within the stadium the belief the belief that they could just go on to bigger and better things and
01:14try and replicate heroics of the early 1980s not quite happening in the end FA Cup semi-final
01:21disappointment at Wembley there's so much frustration from fans because Villa going into
01:25the games against Man City as well as a huge six-pointer for the Champions League race in
01:29the Premier League and then the game against Palace at Wembley they were the best form team in the
01:33entirety of Europe over the last 10 matches but they did manage to fall away at the key moments
01:38unfortunately so as as you say so much incredible achievements this season but they won't have a
01:45trophy to show for it and they might not even have Champions League football to show for it next season so
01:50a bit a bit of a strange one with a mixed bag but I think if you look at it on the whole and where
01:54Villa were a few seasons ago they've taken another step this year signing the likes of Asensio
02:00Rashford that wouldn't have been possible at that point in time and probably not even at the start
02:04of this season the financial side it's still a bit of a worry with PSR need to sort that out maybe
02:10make a couple of sales this summer but yeah the reputation of the football club is certainly on the rise
02:15again. Yeah let's just look ahead to the summer plans obviously you know we've mentioned a number
02:20of times the core in terms of you know these players who've developed under Unai Emre is so
02:26important to keep hold of you know the likes of Morgan Rodgers they're going to be attracting
02:30attention you know that's just the way it works you have a great season for a club that that maybe
02:34isn't quite at the very elite level yet then those elite teams do come knocking and you know in terms of
02:40the summer how important is it that they keep players as much as adding a few more top class
02:45additions if they can obviously with the financial restrictions? It is very important Morgan Rodgers
02:52is the man you mentioned it's been emerging that Chelsea are interested but I think Chelsea are
02:57interested in most players that perform well for other Premier League clubs it just happens every
03:01single season doesn't it myself as a Brighton fan it's happened with us and Chelsea in the past
03:05doesn't necessarily mean they're going to go and sign Morgan Rodgers and what's to say that
03:09Rodgers would want to make that move anyway he's from the West Midlands he's near his family he grew
03:15up around here and he's loving his life at Villa being a key player under Unai Emery and it's more
03:20of a system player as well Rodgers would he fit into the Chelsea system as well as he would Villa
03:24I'm not too sure but it's not just him it's the likes of Uri Tielemans as well Oli Watkins up front
03:30can we maybe see Watkins leave this summer is his time up at Villa his form this season hasn't quite
03:36been as it was Marcus Rashford at times before his injury took over in that striking position
03:40there's talks of Emi Martinez potentially going to Saudi Arabia Leon Bailey could also go to Saudi
03:46Arabia or Man United or Tottenham there's a lot of talk of outgoings and not much for incomings at
03:52the moment I think it's right that it's important that they get those decisions right as to who leaves
03:57it's pretty common knowledge at this point that they're warning to be a sale or two to try and make
04:03a bigger transfer kitty for Unai Emery to dig into it's going to be a difficult one I think this
04:08summer for Villa because it feels unfair doesn't it that the team that's on the periphery of the
04:13Champions League just about getting into it like a Newcastle for example they're forced to make
04:18these big sales yet you've got Man City who are spending a ridiculous amount every summer Chelsea
04:23Man United they find ways to do it and some sort of rule change needs to happen at some point soon
04:28because it's just not fair but the reality is Villa they've all need to make sales before they
04:32can even think about making new signings. And just on Aston Villa in terms of you know we're at the
04:38stage where the Premier League team this season that's sort of we look at that and is there any
04:43sort of Villa players who could maybe realistically get in that or should we put forward from what
04:47you've seen this season has been some incredible you know performances individually across the entire
04:52campaign? I'd love to see someone like an Esri Konza get in the team but I just can't see it when
04:58you've got lots of Virgil van Dijk stepping up and Murilo at Forrest, Malenkovich at Forrest
05:02it's not quite going to be there but Uri Tielemans I think has a shot of getting in the team
05:07been so so consistent playing every three or four days no matter the competition so we're talking
05:12about Premier League here but in a division he's been incredible recently he's upped his output for
05:17goals and assists as well I think in terms of the the recency bias he's in top form I think
05:22fans elsewhere in the Premier League are starting to realise just how good he is so I'd like to see
05:27Tielemans in there and I think he's got a fair shot
