00:00Welcome to the first look at EA Sports F125 gameplay.

00:04I'm Matt Gallagher.

00:05And I'm Alex Shakes.

00:07We've got a ton to explore today, Alex.

00:09I haven't seen anything yet, but I've heard there's plenty of exciting stuff lined up.

00:13Absolutely. We've got brand new reverse racing.

00:16It is going to be a blast to commentate on.

00:19Let's jump right in.

00:20Alright, let's pick our team and driver for the first lap.

00:23We've gone for Haas, and we've gone for Oliver Behrman.

00:27Not a bad shout.

00:28I'm ready for this one, and you need to be ready as well.

00:30We're taking a lap around Austria in reverse.

00:32Alex, you've done a lot of commentary, but not in reverse.

00:36No, this is going to be a unique challenge, Matt.

00:39I'm not nervous at all.

00:41Well, nerves or no nerves, Alex, take us through this.

00:44Here come the lights. We're going the wrong way round.

00:49We're underway and heading to the final corner of the racetrack first.

00:54Look how strange is this as we go racing with Oli Behrman into the final turn.

01:00And this is going to change things entirely.

01:02Will we get through? Everyone cleanly through.

01:05We're climbing the hill into the Jock and Rink curb, but this is completely alien stuff, Matt.

01:10So the studio wanted to spread their efforts to deliver value for players across the board.

01:14Reverse tracks allow EA to deliver something a bit more lighthearted, a bit different like we're seeing right now.

01:20It's a lot of fun because now we're climbing the hill.

01:24At turns seven and eight, normally, have now turned into a really fast chicane.

01:28This is still a great overtaking opportunity.

01:30And Oli Behrman's showing us that.

01:33So changing the race line and wear throughout the race is complex.

01:37EA manages two versions of each track in one file to account for track wear and wet weather drying.

01:43It's not just about reversing direction here.

01:45Oh, this is a scary corner, but it's going to get even scarier because instead of climbing up, we're plunging downhill.

01:52Not to turn one, but to the final turn on the racetrack.

01:56Look at how quick this is with no escape on the outside.

02:00If you get it wrong, can Behrman make another place?

02:03He can. Super move. Super racetrack. Brilliant.

02:07Alex, my brain is fried. What have we just watched?

02:11It is a completely different challenge, isn't it? But that's really fun.

02:15Right, swiftly on to Miami. You'll be glad to know, Alex, this one is the right way around.

02:20An all new LiDAR scanned track to bring the true experience to the game.

02:25I'm liking the sound of that. Let's see what it looks like on board.

02:31And it's Oscar Piastri heading into the first turn.

02:34Been fortunate enough to attend this race on a couple of occasions.

02:39And the detail, not only on track, but around the stadium section, really impressive stuff.

02:46Stuff that you'd only know if you've been there. Amazing.

02:49So the accuracy is because of the LiDAR.

02:51It gives billions of data points. And also by matching the LiDAR data,

02:56the sense of speed would also translate closer to what a driver would experience on track.

03:01We've even got the cable car on the left hand side. I love it.

03:04But as we come down to the braking zones, this is what's going to make the difference

03:08when you are behind the wheel and being passed by Lando Norris initially.

03:13Over the bumps, which curbs can you use? Which curbs do you need to avoid?

03:18Absolutely crucial.

03:20Certainly at corners like this, as we climb the hill, some you have to avoid,

03:25some you have to take, like that one on the apex of the chicane.

03:28So LiDAR enhances track realism by capturing details like elevation and curb height.

03:33You could just see when we were on board there, the way the car was bouncing around and compressing.

03:37It's brilliant stuff.

03:39And we're going all the way to the end now. Here we go with Oscar Piastri.

03:43We're going to get the bumps into the braking zone. How much speed could he take through here?

03:48Final corner of the last lap. Stadium is ahead of us, but we're heading to the chequered flag.

03:55And Oscar Piastri comes over the line to win again and to punch the air.

04:01Absolutely awesome. Just amazing, mate. Well done.

04:11That's a nice touch, isn't it? Oscar Piastri in the flesh.

04:14Yeah. His actual team radio included in the game.

04:18Off to the podium we go now. Loving that from the podium. And off we are.

04:23This is looking like a massive step up.

04:26So using Valve Index base stations and a Vive Tracker mounted onto a camera rig, EA took the existing podium cutscene animations in Motion Builder

04:34and used a plug-in which allowed EA to record the tracking data from the Vive Tracker.

04:39So this gave EA the natural movement that would be expected when a camera operator is reacting to events unfolding in front of them.

04:46Hence the step up.

04:48It sounds like so much work has gone into it.

04:53Now to Silverstone we go.

04:56And at the bottom, reverse track with a pit stop.

05:00Bring this on. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this place looks like.

05:05The wrong way round. We're chasing down Fernando Alonso on board with Isaac Hadjar.

05:11And we're going the wrong way round through Luffield Corner, heading into Brooklands.

05:16And that is going to make the next part of the track scary quick.

05:20It's learning a completely different track the wrong way round.

05:22My brain can't really compute what's going on.

05:24But we're in the slipstream of Alonso, Alex.

05:26OK, we're heading into what would normally be the opening quarters.

05:30This is now a massive overtaking opportunity.

05:33This is so strange, you know.

05:35An iconic circuit, the home of British motor racing.

05:39And we're going completely the wrong way round.

05:42In fact, we're going into the pit lane right now.

05:45Scrub off the speed.

05:47And we head in to the Silverstone pit lane.

05:51Past the iconic wing, which is now on our left-hand side.

05:55Still getting used to all of this.

05:57And it's a straight pit stop race.

05:59Hadjar versus Alonso.

06:02In goes Alonso.

06:03And now we're hitting our marks.

06:05Can we jump him here?

06:07The turning was optimal.

06:09We hit our marks.

06:10Can we beat the Aston Martin out?

06:11No!

06:12Fernando!

06:13Alonso has done us.

06:14He's kept position.

06:16I'm intrigued to see what this next pit's like though.

06:18Because it is so tight in real life.

06:20And it's now the pit exit.

06:22We've barely got any room to use.

06:24Get rid of the limiter.

06:26Here we go.

06:27Flat to the floor.

06:28And rejoin.

06:29Heading into Stowe Corner.

06:31But it's now a left-hander.

06:33And Alonso's getting away from us.

06:35Phenomenal stuff.

06:36So the garages in the pit lane have a totally new layer

06:38comprising of all bays, pit perches, crew, floor decals,

06:42garage signage, pit limits and exit lights.

06:45Everything had to face the other direction

06:47and be ordered differently.

06:48Oh my word.

06:50Beckett's, then Maggots.

06:53Unbelievable combinations.

06:55Still brilliant.

06:56Even in reverse.

06:57And we're heading to Copps Corner.

06:59Are we going to go around the outside?

07:00Hang on right now!

07:02Come on!

07:03Oh, what a move that is.

07:05Amazing.

07:06This is absolutely brilliant to watch.

07:08I think this track will actually be one of the most difficult ones to learn.

07:11Totally agree, man.

07:12We are now off to Bahrain.

07:14We have another LiDAR track.

07:16And it means you can see things like the fan zone

07:20that's there in real life on the left-hand side.

07:23And we're trailing, following Gabriel Bortoletto

07:27down to the first turn.

07:28There's always bumps down there at the first turn.

07:30You can see the suspension is working away as he locks up.

07:34He's chasing Carlos Sainz up the hill.

07:37Nice feeling.

07:38Very recent in the memory Bahrain Grand Prix.

07:41As we head slightly up the hill.

07:42The track's undulation is very apparent now

07:44and feels authentic overall.

07:45Especially when you reach turn five.

07:47You get that great wah moment

07:49because you really get to see and feel the elevation as a whole.

07:52And the fast stuff is where LiDAR really comes into its own.

07:57Big direction changes, completely accurate.

08:00And now we're at turn eight.

08:01We're getting closer to the Williams in front.

08:03Speaking of accurate, representation of the sandy and desert terrain

08:07verges in terms of slope and natural formations.

08:10The accuracy is just unmatched.

08:12We head into turn ten now.

08:13Known for its challenging downhill braking zone.

08:15That's also been replicated so that players will get to experience

08:18the precise elevation drop and tricky off camber corner entry.

08:22Giving them a true to life driving experience.

08:25Oh, it's lock up city.

08:27Turn ten.

08:28Absolutely love it.

08:29And now the climb begins again.

08:31Into the fast stuff.

08:33With Bortleto leaning on every bump.

08:36Thirteen is such a tricky corner.

08:38Look at the suspension working away as he climbs the curb now.

08:42And he's chasing all the way to the end of a very familiar racetrack.

08:46With its abrasive tarmac.

08:49And it's low grip.

08:51It's high abrasion.

08:52And it's lining up right now for a great chance to overtake the Williams ahead.

08:58There's the rear wing element going up.

09:01And the Brazilian driver continues to chase on.

09:05On to Zuzuka.

09:07Yes, please.

09:08Absolutely adore this racetrack.

09:11And we are about to find ourselves doing an attacking lap around iconic corners.

09:18With the LiDAR more accurate than they have ever been before.

09:22This is turn one at high speed.

09:25And we're working our way into the S's.

09:27Look at that on the left hand side.

09:29We've got the cherry blossoms.

09:31Wonderful.

09:32Beautiful as well.

09:33We've got the pink Alpine of Jack Doohan.

09:35It's all just working out beautifully into the first sector.

09:38One of the most iconic sets of corners in the entire Formula 1 calendar.

09:43You can feel the car moving around, compressing.

09:46It's just brilliant.

09:48Into the Degnas.

09:50Through the first one.

09:52Through the second one.

09:54And we're gaining all the time on Yuki Tsunoda.

09:57The dive bomb!

09:59The Kobayashi dive bomb move from Jack Doohan.

10:04How about it?

10:06Excellent stuff.

10:07I'm loving this racetrack with all of the details around here.

10:13Spoon Corner is next.

10:15Fans watching from the side.

10:17More cherry blossom around this racetrack.

10:20It really is a beautiful place to come.

10:22Spot the cherry blossom is the game we're playing at the moment.

10:25We're in the slipstream of Alex Albon.

10:27It's looking beautiful.

10:28How's 130R going to be?

10:31That is a dangerous place to try and overtake.

10:34He couldn't make the pass.

10:36How about the iconic chicane?

10:38Made famous by Prost and Senna.

10:41The big wheel on the left hand side.

10:43It's an amazing view from that, by the way.

10:45It's an amazing view on board with Jack Doohan as we go across the line.

10:50Does Zuzuka look great?

10:52We've gained another place on the way to turn number one.

10:55What a great racetrack.

10:56I love that place.

10:58Heading to Australia we go now for the Grand Prix.

11:02The first race of the season it was this year.

11:05And look at that.

11:07Raining in Melbourne.

11:09It's a LiDAR scan track once again.

11:12So look for the accuracy.

11:13You can see it's a very unique track.

11:14It has road markings on it.

11:16And you best believe the LiDAR has scanned it all.

11:20I'm so relieved it has because that is going to make things extra tricky.

11:25That is going to provide you with the same challenges that the drivers themselves experience.

11:31And I love that we've got the wet conditions just like we saw for the real thing earlier in the year as we go past the stadium section now on the right hand side.

11:41So the buildings placement which you'll see around the track is probably the biggest change with the proportions of the pit buildings being accurate now as well as all of the bridges and gantries around the track being correct.

11:52I love to see it lean on the curb on the way out little bit of a correction there as we went over the markings.

12:00This is the flat out section now changed a couple of years ago.

12:03We're going up through the gears.

12:05This is such a high speed change of direction.

12:08The fast chicane.

12:10How brave are you feeling through here?

12:12Gaining so much time and another great overtaking opportunity.

12:17We're chasing down Liam Lawson.

12:19This place looking fantastic even though it's pouring with rain.

12:22Oh we're going to go for a move down the inside of Lawson.

12:25Beautiful stuff and you'll see all around this circuit as it is a street circuit technically.

12:29Every barrier has been replaced with the correct height and proportioned versions as well as all the colours and materials being updated.

12:37A brilliant place to go racing.

12:39A wonderful crowd and now the most accurate version of Albert Park we have ever seen.

12:47The car moving around so much in the rain as well as we go over the line again chasing down Lewis Hamilton for 8th position at Albert Park.

12:57Carlos Sides making his way through.

12:59Right last one for today and it is Zandvoort.

13:02As you can see the entire start grid has had to be replaced on the opposite side of the start straight.

13:08In real life this isn't even a consideration and might not be able to fit all the cars.

13:12This is going to be amazing because it's a bang first turn.

13:16Look at this.

13:17This place is mad enough the normal way round.

13:20This is epic going backwards.

13:22We're now into the stadium section.

13:24Spot your apex here.

13:26Where is it?

13:27I tell you what I'm really enjoying this version of Zandvoort.

13:30It's going to get quicker and quicker now and there's a good overtaking opportunity coming our way.

13:35I mean we're already ahead so don't worry about it too much.

13:38On board with George Russell snaking our way through and then it's going to get super quick again.

13:43I quite like it this way round.

13:45Yeah I think it's going to get even more chaotic now as we head through this left-hander.

13:49Missing the apex ever so slightly and this corner here banked uphill.

13:53Here we go.

13:54I'm going to speak to the organizers.

13:56I think this is the way forward.

13:58This is so quick and it now means that the original turn three is going to be no runoff at all and banked as well.

14:07Oh phenomenal stuff.

14:09How is turn one in real life going to fare for the driver here?

14:14The last corner.

14:16Yeah on the power.

14:17Yeah that's epic.

14:18That is so so good.

14:20Alright Zandvoort we've got a few ideas for the Grand Prix.

14:31I feel like that reaction would have been absolutely his reaction going round Zandvoort backwards to be honest with you.
