00:00DC Studios' Sgt. Rock, starring Colin Farrell and directed by Luca Guadagnino, is not moving forward.
00:07The feature project was in pre-production as it planned to shoot in England for this summer.
00:12But sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the action war movie will no longer move forward.
00:17The project from Guadagnino was in the throes of casting, trying to line up actors who would play the men of Easy Company,
00:23the combat unit fighting Nazi forces in Europe.
00:25Sources say Mike Feist, who starred in Guadagnino's Challengers, was lined up for a role.
00:30It's unclear why the project has been shut down, although an insider said it came down to the project's scheduling needs of shooting outdoors.
00:37The insider said that the project was not going away and would be reassessed at the end of the year for a possible summer shoot in 2026.
00:44Another source raised the possibility that Guadagnino remained untested in the realm of action movies.
00:49And even though the budget was in the $70 million range, a small sum for comic book movies, higher-ups may have wavered in their confidence.
00:57The character Sgt. Rock first appeared in comics in 1959.
01:00His comic was one of DC's longest-running books.
