00:00You just heard them say, is there one anywhere in the building?

00:03Yeah, hopefully.

00:03And that's for Laura playing something with her nose.

00:05Yes, well, tell us about the weather, Laura,

00:08because that's going to blow the roof off this week, isn't it?

00:11It's lovely for some, it's awful for others,

00:13but many people are saying, is it a heatwave?

00:15So I'm going to show you what you need for a heatwave to happen.

00:19We need certain temperatures to happen for three days in a row.

00:22It is 25 across the north, 28 degrees across the south east,

00:26so let me show you what's going to happen.

00:27And yesterday was 24.9, so we're not there yet.

00:31These are our top temperatures for the next few days,

00:32so it won't technically be a heatwave,

00:34but 29 tomorrow will be the warmest 1st of May we've ever recorded,

00:37and it could be 30, which would be the earliest we've ever seen 30.

00:40So we're looking at record-breaking temperatures.

00:43And we actually know that all of these temperatures

00:45are now made more likely by climate change,

00:47two to three times more likely because of climate change.

00:50We've just been talking about it in the news

00:51and actually a report today from an independent panel

00:54that look at how the government are dealing with climate change

00:56say they are not doing enough.

00:58So with regards to heatwaves,

00:59we're set to see more people dying because of heatwaves

01:02by the middle of the century, up to 10,000.

01:04We're set to see more homes at risk of flooding

01:06by the middle of the century, from 6.3 to 8 million.

01:10And the government have targets they're meant to reach,

01:1246 areas by this independent panel.

01:15Only three of them are being met.

01:18They have made no progress in the last two years,

01:20and they're basically saying that the country's at risk,

01:22we're all at risk, and not enough is being done.

01:24So while these temperatures are lovely for some,

01:26climate change has made them more likely,

01:28and we're set to see them happening more often.

01:31I think we're definitely at that point, Art,

01:33where people go outside and go,

01:34oh, it's lovely, but the next few days,

01:35the heat will just start to feel a little too much

01:37as we drag up this warm air from the near continent.

01:40Not just daytime temperatures climbing,

01:42night times as well.

01:43It's high pressure that sits over us

01:45that keeps the weather fronts at bay,

01:46so the outlook again, yet again,

01:48is dry, sunny and very warm.

01:50Still a little cloud across the far north and west,

01:52but more sunshine greets us today than yesterday,

01:56and it means once that cloud burns off,

01:57and it soon will,

01:59we are talking wall-to-wall sunshine today.

02:01Brilliant blue skies,

02:02and those temperatures will respond.

02:04All of us seeing temperatures way above average today,

02:0727 degrees our top temperature,

02:09and it yet again means that our UV levels are high,

02:12spreading all the way to the north of England today,

02:15and pollen levels remain very high as well.

02:17Tonight, we do it all over again.

02:19It is a warm, humid night,

02:21and tomorrow, like I said,

02:23the 1st of May,

02:24we could get 29, maybe 30 degrees.

02:27It'll be the warmest 1st of May we have ever recorded,

02:29so it's set to be record-breaking.
