00:00Ah, the suburbs. A cozy place of safety, comfort, and nothing out of the ordinary.
00:17Or so we think. Walk with me.
00:21It's here in the suburbs that we meet Frank Brickett, a reclusive man who wants nothing to do with the outside world.
00:26However, Frank begins receiving nightly visits from mysterious strangers wearing homemade chicken costumes.
00:33When Frank discovers the truth about his new house, he must confront both the chicken people and his own trauma.
00:42Chicken House is my capstone film at RIT's School of Film and Animation.
00:46As a director, I like telling stories that mix comedy with legitimate emotional stakes.
00:51Which this film does do that.
00:56Chicken House is an exploration of grief and the weird forms it can take.
01:04For Chicken House, we pulled visual inspiration from vintage horror films for our lighting and our camerawork.
01:08We're also combining both analog and cutting edge technology.
01:11We're especially excited for a sequence that we get to shoot all on 16mm film.
01:16In order to help make this film a reality though, we need your support.
01:19Consider donating to our Seed&Spark campaign to help us afford things like props and costumes, including, uh, and I'm dead serious, 20 of these homemade chicken costumes.
01:29Gear rental, food for our cast and crew, and film festival fees.
01:32We also have various incentives you can choose from, including early access to the film, which you might want to consider,
01:37because it'll probably be a good two to three years before the film is publicly available.
01:41We genuinely could not be more excited to get started on Chicken House, and it's hard to believe that four years of film school will culminate in a yard full of chicken people.
