Delhi: Violinist Lakshminarayana Subramaniam received the Padma Vibhushan from President Droupadi Murmu for his contribution to the field of art. He says, I am extremely happy and feel privileged to receive the Padma Vibhushan from the Government of India. I believe this is a milestone not just for me, but for all violinists and instrumentalists. On the Pahalgam terror attack, he says, This is a time when all of us, as Indians, must speak with one voice. That is very important. Indians have been killed people belonging to a particular community and that is deeply saddening.

00:00I'm extremely happy and feel privileged to get the Bhatma Vibhushan from Government of India.
00:08And I think it's one of the milestones for violinists and instrumentalists.
00:15Basically, I feel it belongs to my father because he's the one he dreamt about making Indian violin globally known.
00:25And to change from the accompanying pattern to a solo pattern, he did a lot of form work, a lot of technique he developed.
00:35We did all the work and finally he taught us and I'm more in the front visible so I'm getting this award.
00:42Actually, his vision, his creativity, his technique which took me to global stage and that brought me all these things.
00:52So, but getting all the international awards is one thing but getting award in your own country recognized by your own government is something very special.
01:03I'm very honored and privileged and thanks to the Government of India for doing this.
01:08First of all, I'm shocked and saddened to see the attack and focus on one community.
01:15And this is the time we all as Indians should have the same voice, which is very important.
01:23Instead of different people saying different thing, Indians have been attacked, Indians have been killed or belonging to a particular community, which is very sad.
01:34As every Indian, they should feel they are Indians first and condemn this and try to support the government to take whatever necessary action so they have a free hand to prevent this happening in the future.
01:49No, I'll support a very government which is trying to protect our own citizens because this is all we are talking about Indians and lives of Indians.
01:59So the priority, if you are an Indian, if you feel your soul is Indian, if you feel you are an Indian, we have to support.
