CREATING NEW BUSINESSES, GENERATING THOUSANDS OF NEW JOBS FOR YOUNG WORKERS
00:09
AND GROWING INTERNATIONAL EXPORTS.
00:13
Uzbekistan's tech and ICT sectors are surging.
00:17
What's fueling it and how is it changing the country's economy?
00:23
Hello and welcome to the programme.
00:25
Boasting more than 9,700 companies and over 200,000 specialists,
00:33
Uzbekistan's tech and ICT industries are developing fast.
00:38
Total revenues reached 4.1 billion euros last year,
00:43
with services now exported to around 90 countries.
00:47
We've been to meet some of the businesses making it happen.
00:50
From animated children's shows to big movies,
00:56
all this has been created by United Soft,
01:00
a company specialising in visual effects and computer-generated imagery.
01:06
Based in Tashkent, some of its content has made it all the way to Bollywood.
01:11
You see the growth of the company in terms of not just the number of the teammates that I have,
01:17
but also the amount of projects and the scale of the projects that we're working on
01:22
is, of course, really exciting.
01:24
Our plan is to start working on the more bigger-scale projects, such as Hollywood.
01:31
United Soft is a member of IT Park,
01:34
which runs an ecosystem of support to develop business.
01:38
With branches across Uzbekistan and representation abroad,
01:42
it helps to create jobs for tech-savvy young workers
01:46
and attract foreign companies,
01:48
which already make up over 600 of its members.
01:53
We provide tax and custom benefits.
01:56
We also have visa benefits for them.
01:59
We have big access to the talent pool.
02:02
For example, in our country, we have 21 million working-age professionals,
02:06
including 5 million English-speaking specialists.
02:09
And we also have the programs for the local companies
02:12
to expand their businesses internationally.
02:15
We also provide incubation and acceleration programs for startups.
02:21
TAS Vision, another IT Park member,
02:24
deploys artificial intelligence and cloud-based technologies
02:28
to analyze customers in retail stores,
02:31
providing insights to drive up profits.
02:36
Chak Zod started the company when he was just 19
02:39
and is now operating in seven countries.
02:43
We connect with the store's existing CCTV cameras
02:46
and we provide our own AI camera
02:49
and we collect customer data and goods data in real time.
02:52
We are giving just data about the demographics and age agenda
02:56
and also how many customers are coming in
02:59
and in what zone they're spending time,
03:02
what they're looking for
03:03
and what about the touch points between goods and human.
03:09
Technology is also transforming public services.
03:12
We are witnessing significant changes in public services and e-government in Uzbekistan.
03:23
For example, MyAdipalm, our system,
03:26
will recognize your veins in your hand.
03:29
We use it in the public transport, like in the metro,
03:32
but we can use it in retail.
03:34
It's more efficient and more secure.
03:36
The growth of Uzbekistan's tech and ICT sectors
03:41
is future-proofing its economy
03:43
and positioning the country as a leading innovation hub in Central Asia.
03:48
Let's get more now from Sherzod Shermatov,
03:56
Minister of Digital Technologies, who's in Tashkent.
03:59
So, Minister, why all this growth then in tech and ICT?
04:03
It's because we had the bold vision of our president
04:05
to make Uzbekistan an IT hub,
04:07
which is creating the job opportunities,
04:09
highly paid job opportunities for our use.
04:12
And Uzbekistan had a young and growing population
04:14
and we need to create the jobs within Uzbekistan.
04:18
And how is this then driving sustainable growth in the country?
04:21
Uzbekistan used to be mostly an agrarian country
04:24
and we are now trying to focus more on new service sectors growth
04:30
and we had the highest growth rates in the ICT-related services,
04:34
in fintech and in all these new start-ups areas.
04:38
So, this is an enabling growing field for our young talents
04:43
to grow their ideas to make future successful start-ups.
04:46
Minister, thanks for joining us.
04:49
Well, that's all we have time for in this edition,
04:51
but you can get more business news at euronews.com.
04:54
Thanks for watching and bye for now.
