00:00I'm at the top of my gang, I'm who they hate, this shit comes with us, man, that's how I knew that I made it.

00:08It gets crazy, it gets really wild, and I'm happy we made it here today.

00:19It's all feeling surreal, you know, I'm very numb in this moment, because, you know, we've been birthing this thing, you know, so we'll see.

00:26You said months and months and months of prep, so tell me, like, when is the first concept?

00:29Like, what's the first meeting like?

00:30What are you establishing there?

00:31The first meeting is like, what the hell are we doing?

00:33What are you saying?

00:35What do you want to say?

00:36How can we say it?

00:37You know, boom, she tells me everything.

00:39I take a beat, then we come back, we look at photos, and we start to, like, go from there

00:44once we have a point of reference.

00:53I've seen Megan at Coachella before.

00:55So when she's already kind of been at this surroundings, how does she say, I want to

00:58make this different?

00:59It's her just being in a different space right now.

01:01She's been through so much in the two years of, like, her last performance.

01:05So for me, it's about just making sure she has a voice and something to say and something

01:09to bring to the table.

01:11And how does that voice feel elevated, feel like she's grown, feel like she's learned a

01:15lot in those two years?

01:21You, as a choreographer, have a very specific style.

01:24How do you mix those two styles when you're like, I got to be me and I also got to be

01:27Megan at the same time?

01:29Well, it's choreography and creative direction, right?

01:31So I have to put her first.

01:33I come secondary.

01:34You know, my job is to assist in the elevation of.

01:41What's the hardest part about rehearsals?

01:42What's the craziest thing that happens during rehearsals?

01:44He doesn't want to tell me.

01:58I heard that you're working on some really cool stuff, giving back to the community.

02:00What can you tell me about that?

02:01Yeah, we're relaunching the Jaquell Knight Foundation, which I'm super excited about.

02:07Over the years, I've been a big mentor to up-and-coming dancers and choreographers.

02:11During the pandemic, we launched the foundation, which gave back to dancers across the country.

02:16So now we're just in the phase of, like, re-branching.

02:18It's easy to be a part of all things at Jaquell Knight, Jaquell Knight Foundation.

02:22I do a thing, Jaquell Knight is, like, the March Madness thing based on that tournament.

02:28So one of my winners, actually a choreographer that won it, he actually choreographed a really

02:32big piece of the show tonight, Jaquivus, that I'm super excited about.

02:37So we're excited about the relaunch of the foundation.
