Hello, my name is Matthew Elder. I'm the Deputy Sports Editor of The Scotsman. I'm going to talk
00:06
you through the various permutations in the SPFL this weekend that could see three teams declared
00:13
champions. We already have one confirmed champion this season, Arbroath, wrapped up the League One
00:19
title two weeks ago, a 4-1 win over Stenhousemuir. That's taken them back into the championship at
00:25
the first time of asking after their relegation last season. Celtic can follow up as the second
00:31
team to clinch their title this weekend. They travel to Dundee United in the Saturday lunchtime
00:36
kick-off, knowing that if they avoid defeat at Tanadice, it will be a four-successive championship
00:43
for Brendan Rodgers' side. They have a 15-point advantage and a huge goal difference over Rangers,
00:48
players, meaning they're effectively champions-elect already, but it will be formally confirmed
00:55
if they avoid defeat at Tanadice on Saturday, with four matches to spare.
01:02
Down in the championship, Falkirk have led the way for most of the season, but they've just
01:06
struggled to get over the line in the last few weeks, winning only one of their last four
01:11
league games, allowing Livingston to close the gap. Falkirk have a three-point advantage
01:16
over Livingston going into the penultimate round of championship fixtures, but Falkirk
01:21
can put themselves on the brink of the title if they win at Partick Thistle on Friday night.
01:27
That will move them six points clear with a big goal difference advantage, with Livingston
01:32
only having two matches left to claw that back. So a win for Falkirk on Friday and Livingston
01:38
failing to beat Hamilton on Saturday, we'll see Falkirk declare champions on Saturday. That
01:43
will be a remarkable achievement for John McGlynn and his players, a second successive promotion
01:47
after winning the League One title last season. Down in League Two, there's a top-of-the-table
01:54
clash at Balmour Stadium, Peterhead hosting East Fife. Peterhead are currently one point clear
02:00
of Dick Campbell's side going into the penultimate match, meaning that Peterhead can clinch the
02:06
League Two title if they win that match. So they'll be home fans will be turning up to Balmour
02:10
Stadium in anticipation of a title party, but Dick Campbell will have other ideas. He'll
02:17
hit him and his five players, he'll know that I win. And Peterhead on Saturday will put them
02:22
into pole position going into the final weekend of the season next week. So it promises to
02:28
be an exciting finale to the SPFL season. There are lots at stake this weekend. Keep tuned
02:33
to scotsman.com to find out all about what goes on this weekend.
