00:00The plane wasn't right.
00:02We all knew it wasn't right.
00:05I'm security for this band.
00:06I said, then I want you to have the mechanic fly here
00:08and fix the plane here.
00:09He said, you don't make them decisions.
00:11I said, who would be so stupid to take this thing up with a problem
00:14and you can fix it here?
00:15We weren't happy with this airplane.
00:17Pilots say, everything's good, let's go.
00:19If it's your time to go, it's your time to go.
00:21Ronnie Van Zandt just didn't know it was his time to go.
00:24And so we boarded the plane.
00:26We were playing cards and saying, well,
00:28hey, we're flying down a pipeline.
00:30We'll knock the wings off.
00:32It'll be like Mr. Toad's wild ride.
00:34I mean, I was smashed.
00:36Gene came back and told us to buckle up.
00:38We were going to try to put it down.
00:41And then some people panicked and it got a little tense
00:44and there wasn't anything you could do about it.
00:46So you just buckled up and prayed.
00:48We started clipping trees and then it went bang, bang, bang.
00:52And that's all I remember.
00:54Ronnie told me, you're the only person in the world
00:57that I know I can trust that'll never drink, never do drugs,
01:01and will take care of us, will watch over us.
01:03That really eat up my heart for a long time
01:05because I should have stopped the plane.
01:07I didn't.
01:08And that would eat me up for years and still does.
