00:00Coyo, welcome to Latin Women in Music. How do you feel in a special night?

00:05Well, I'm really excited. For me, this is a feast. It is a feast for women.

00:11It is recognizing many things, but at the same time, elevating ourselves between ourselves.

00:17You were honored the first year of Latin Women in Music, which was two years ago,

00:22and today you are here because you are going to present the award to Celia Cruz as legend.

00:26How would you describe the legacy of Celia Cruz?

00:29Well, the legacy of Celia Cruz is immense, because it is like a 360,

00:34from her voice, her music, her personality, her sugar,

00:41and obviously everything that has to do with her culture and her Afro pride.

00:45So, for me, it is too much.

00:48I think it is a strong reference for me and for many women in the music industry.

00:54The story that wrote Leila, that wrote the book, I read your story with her and your anecdote with Celia Cruz,

01:00and you met her and, in fact, you sang.

01:02You were like 13 or 14 years old.

01:05What was your impression of her at that moment?

01:08Because I think it was very impressionable.

01:11The truth is, I was a little nervous, especially because it was a song called Ritmo Tamboy y Flores,

01:16and I learned it when I was seven.

01:18So, my mother came singing and talking to her and she said,

01:21and she said, sing.

01:22And I started singing that song.

01:23And she said, she sings, she sings, she sings, she sings, she sings, she sings, she sings, she sings, she sings.

01:27And, well, it was a lot of fulfilled.

01:29It was the first song I could sing in public.

01:32And, well, it was a lot for me that moment.

01:35Viajar with her in that bus for three hours was emotional for me.

01:40And today we are celebrating, because this year will be 100 years.

01:45Why is it important that the new generations that come from women, artists,

01:50know the legacy of Celia?

01:51Well, it's important because I think we need to know our history.

01:58I think it's important to remember it because it's still among us.

02:02We're still listening to her music.

02:04And, well, the worst of the history is forgetting it or not recognizing it.

02:09So, it's very important.

02:12Goyo, the next month we celebrate the Día of the Madres.

02:17How has changed your life since you became a mom?

02:21Well, the truth, a lot.

02:23The responsibilities, but more than all, the care with which I am.
