Sir Keir Starmer says he is "really pleased" that the UK and the EU have committed to "reset" their relationship. Welcoming his "friend" and president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to 10 Downing Street, Sir Keir Starmer comments on the work that has been done on energy security at a London summit on Thursday and adds: "In a world which seems increasingly unstable with an uncertain future, it is so good that we are working so closely together on so many issues." 00:00In your thirties, Ms. von der Leyen, are UK fished the price to pay for a closer deal with the EU?
00:09Is President Trump throwing in the towel with Ukraine?
00:12Erster, it's my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to Downing Street, particularly as we come off the back of the work we've just done on energy security.
00:36And in a world which seems increasingly unstable with an uncertain future, it is so good that we are working so closely together on so many issues, defense and security, our thinking aligned on vital issues like Ukraine, but also on trade and the economy, which again, we see the world is changing.
00:59And so I'm really pleased that we've committed to a reset of our relationship, a really important relationship, which I think will be a huge benefit to both of us.
01:11But it is hugely my privilege to welcome you here very warmly as a colleague, a fellow leader, but also as a friend to discuss the very many issues of common concern.
01:22Thank you very much, Kira. Indeed, it's good to meet a friend again and to be here with you.
01:30We are friends and we are Europeans. We are very like-minded.
01:34We share the same interests and the same values. We face the same challenges, but we are complementary and also in defending our democracies.
