00:00Big changes could be coming to your snack drawer.
00:02Today the FDA is taking action to remove petroleum-based food dyes from the U.S. food supply and from medications.
00:10This week, U.S. health officials, including FDA Commissioner Marty Macri and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,
00:18announced plans to phase out several synthetic food dyes by 2026.
00:23The concern? Potential links to hyperactivity and attention issues in kids.
00:27We can't continue to exist like this.
00:31And the problem is, industry is making money, keeping us sick.
00:37And we are going to win this battle.
00:39And four years from now, we're going to have most of these products off the market,
00:44or you will know about them when you go to the grocery store.
00:47On the chopping block, red 40, yellow 5 and 6, blue 1 and 2, green 3 and more.
00:53So where are they hiding?
00:54Try your breakfast cereal, Lockheed Charms, Fruity Pebbles, Pop-Tarts, even some yogurts.
01:00In snacks, Doritos, Hot Cheetos, Twinkies, Jell-O, Candy-like Skittles and Gummy Worms.
01:06Even produce, like oranges dyed with citrus red number 2 and sausages with orange bee.
01:11And don't forget your drinks, Gatorade, Fanta and some cough syrups too.
01:16The FDA is asking brands to follow the lead of Europe and Canada,
01:19swapping petrochemical dyes for natural ones like beet juice or turmeric.
01:24Will your favorite foods look a little different in the future?
01:27Maybe.
01:28But the goal?
01:29A cleaner, safer plate.
