Amidst a packed schedule spanning Turkiye and the United Kingdom, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof was not spared from experiencing a tense moment while in Istanbul, when a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck the city on April 23.

The quake has injured more than 150 people when they jumped from buildings in one of the strongest quakes in two years to hit the country.

00:00The Malaysian Foreign Ministry said no Malaysians have been reported to be
00:06affected by the 6.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey on Wednesday.
00:11The ministry said it is monitoring the situation and maintaining communication
00:15with Malaysians in Turkey and local authorities for the latest developments.
00:20Authorities said more than 150 people were injured when they jumped from
00:25buildings in Istanbul following the earthquake that happened at 12.49 p.m.
00:30Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Sri Fadila Youssef said he and his delegation were at Istanbul Airport
00:36and experienced the strong tremor.
00:39He said the first tremor was quite strong, and about 15 minutes later,
00:43they were instructed to re-enter the building.
00:46Shortly after the second tremor, they were told to evacuate for 10 minutes before being allowed back inside.
00:51Fadila's delegation had left Turkey and arrived in London to continue their official visit.
00:56Following the earthquake, people poured into the streets, leaving their homes and belongings behind.
01:02One day, it started with a big break and felt very calm.
01:08I was scared, I was scared of walking on a dog, I was scared of being on the floor and I was waiting for it to finish.
01:14After that, we bought our items and we went to the streets and we came to the streets.
01:17We were a few hours, I don't know how much time it was, but we are in the park.

01:25The earthquake occurred in the Sea of Marmara, off the coast of Istanbul's Silivri district.
01:48Two years ago, Turkey experienced the deadliest earthquake in its modern history when a 7.8
01:54magnitude earthquake in February 2023 killed more than 55,000 people and injured some 107,000
02:02in southern Turkey.
