At the final season premiere of 'YOU,' Amy-Leigh Hickman explains the impact of the three-year gap from last season. Plus, she picks who would be Joe Goldberg's perfect match in the Netflix series.

00:00Well, congratulations on this season. This is the final season.

00:04What was your reaction when you first read the final scripts?

00:07And do you think Joe gets an appropriate ending?

00:10Have you seen it? No, okay.

00:14I didn't, like, the last episode took like a while to come and we were all speculating,

00:19like, because we knew from like one to nine and everyone had like their own sort of theories

00:25on what they thought and it was not even close to any of us.

00:31So it was completely the unexpected.

00:34I think whatever the outcome would have been, there would have been a flip side where people are like,

00:38no, that shouldn't have happened, that shouldn't have happened.

00:40So I think, yes, there is very, there's a lot of positives.

00:45Not positives, but like a lot of people will feel satisfied, like, yes, he got what he deserved.

00:49A lot of people won't.

00:50Well, I know the start of this season is also a three-year time jump.

00:54So how does that change the dynamic of the show and also for Nadia?

00:59Well, luckily, I have looked the same since I was 10.

01:02So when they said three-year time jump, I was like, is anyone going to put anything on me?

01:08I think it adds to like how long it's, like, how long Nadia's been in prison,

01:15how long Kate's been living with all of these lies.

01:17And it just, I think it just adds to the intensity of it, you know, as opposed to,

01:21oh, it's just the next year, like, people have been living like this for three years.

01:26Why do you think now is the right time to end the show?

01:28Because you can't keep getting away with it.

01:30You just can't keep getting away with this, you know.

01:33And I think, you know, end on a high and people still love the show.

01:37And it does feel like sad, but the right time to end it, I think.

01:42Although if they, you know, if I was a viewer and they made season seven, eight, nine,

01:46I'd still be tuning in.

01:47I would.

01:48What are you going to miss the most about having Penn as a scene partner?

01:50I think how much I learned from him without him saying anything.

01:56Like, he's just so, and especially in season four, he directed an episode.

02:02And I just thought that was really magical.

02:05Yeah, he's just, he has taught me more than probably I've let him know, you know.

02:10But he's very, yeah, he's a really special person.

02:12I'm so, so happy that I got to work with him and get to know him.

02:16Of course, there's been a lot of love interests that Joe has had over the seasons.

02:22Who do you think would be the best match for him had he not become an obsessive serial killer?

02:28I mean, love, he met as much.

02:34But I think it's something very special about Kate because she's always been like one step ahead of the game.

02:39And I like that she puts him in his place quite a lot of the time.

02:43And you'll see that more in this season as well, yeah.

02:46And finally, this show takes obsession to the extreme.

02:49But I wanted to know for you, what is your healthy obsession right now?
