'We're Very Saddened': Vice President JD Vance Calls The Late Pope Francis 'A Great Pastor'

At a press gaggle on Wednesday in India, Vice President JD Vance was asked about the funeral of Pope Francis.

00:00The Pope obviously passed away a few days ago. Are you planning to attend his funeral?

00:06So I'm not currently planning to attend his funeral. I'm not currently planning to not attend his funeral.

00:10We just haven't really thought that much about when his funeral is going to be and who's going to attend from our government.

00:15Let me just say a couple of words about the Holy Father.

00:18Obviously I was able to see him very briefly the morning of Easter Sunday.

00:22I knew he was very ill. I didn't realize how sick he was.

00:25The thing that I will always remember Pope Francis for is that he was a great pastor.

00:30People on the margins, poor people, people suffering from diseases.

00:34They saw in Pope Francis an advocate and I think a true expression of Christian love.

00:38So we're very saddened by it.

00:40Obviously our condolences to the Catholics all over the world, but especially back home who loved and honored the Holy Father.
