00:29my second theater. Yeah. Being here it's a big weekend out here for y'all too. Yes it is. You got the draft weekend so we came in yesterday a lot of traffic but you know we got through it you know and tonight is the big night. I'm gonna tell you now if you think the draft is the big thing I'm gonna tell you now it's not. It's even bigger. All the big dogs gone. We got bigger. First round picks they out of here. So come on see the other first round picks at the show tonight. Yes indeed. At the Personic Theater. So you've been trapping you've been you've been working you've been grinding for years
00:59and years and years and years. Yes. Now when we talked the other day you said listen when I started doing the six second videos you were even on bond like. Yeah yeah. What is life like now in comparison to when you started? Man I would just say it's just more real. You know it's just it's at that level. You know. Well I ain't gonna say problems. Just a lot of. I mean problems do come with it.
01:21Oh but just a lot of different doors opening up for me in a real way. You know I'm saying all the things that I vision envision you know I'm saying. When I first started you know a lot of stuff is coming to pass and you know I just wanted to continue just to elevate you know and come to pass you know now we doing it on another level you know when people come up to me now. It used to be you know what comedy club you at now it's like what theater you gonna be at. So it's like hearing that it's like the levels of you know you know where I'm going.
01:51Yeah. You know that's that's the you know the next big goal but you know with the videos you know come the TV shows and it comes the movies and you know all of that. So that's like my my inspiration and my strength of you know keeping me moving forward you know what I want to do. So. Absolutely. Yeah. How do you stay motivated you know on the days where it's not you know on top of the world. I don't get comfortable you know what I'm saying. I feel like I'm not feel. I know it's more levels where I want to get to when it comes to you know being
02:21being an actor or being a comedian. You know I see a lot of OG comedians and actors that inspire me you know that that done poured into me and want me to get to another level you know what I'm saying. Which is the real way you know what I'm saying. If I'm going to do it I'm going to do it. I want to do it big you know what I'm saying. I want to do it on the level of how they did it you know what I'm saying. I want to be the Mike Epps. I want to be the Kevin Harts. I want to be the Eddie Murphys, the Richard Pryor, the Jamie Foxx, the Martins you know what I'm saying. But those are different levels you know what I'm saying. And I know it takes time because
02:51take work you know it don't happen overnight. And I'm just like I would say I'm at the I'm at the I'm probably a quarter in of where they're at. You know what I'm saying. I got a whole another three quarters to get to. You know it's levels to it. You know it's and I respect it. To have timeless works and all that kind of stuff. Yeah yeah yeah. You know what I'm saying. So yeah I'm just enjoying the process man. You know taking it step by step.
03:15And just you know trying to have keep having fun with it. You know keeping that in my heart. And just you know keep elevating. I love that. So how important is it to you with the level that you are now you're able to reach back. You're able to bring up you know comedians up under you. Comedy changes over the years. How intentional are you with you know helping those who were once in the position that you were in two five years ago.
03:45When it comes to young people. I look at them like hey. We we still we all still here. You know I'm saying. We all at this level. But it's up to you if you want to take it to the level. I don't know what level they would want to take it to. Right. You know I'm saying. A lot of people just want to stay on social media. Which is cool.
03:58But for me you know I knew I had a different vision. And I knew I wanted this back in 2000 you know back in 2012. Well you know when I when I started. You know I'm saying. So it is. I would just say for the young people that's under me or whatever it is.
04:15Find your purpose in it. Find your why. Why you really want to do it. And if you're just having fun with it that's okay too. You know I'm saying. But when it comes to levels of it. You got to you know you got to fight it a little different. You know I'm saying. You got to study. You got to study the legends. You got to be a student of you know I'm saying of the people that did it before you. You got to watch those movies. If you want to be in movies. You got to you know you got to do those things that that's going to pour into you. So you can actually you know you got to put in that work.
04:45If you're going to do stand up you got to go to open mics. You got to do stand up. You got to you know do different things that's going to help you you know get to that place. And like I said that that take time. Yeah. And I'm still working on myself. You got to find your voice. Sometimes they say it take 10 years to find your voice. You know I'm saying when you're on stage. You know I'm saying. So and you know I'm on year eight of stand up. Still figuring it out. Still working things out. Still finding myself each and every day. You know I'm saying. So you just got to enjoy the process is know that that big star that you want to be you know social media you know.
05:15It'll make you look like you're a big star. But in reality you know it's it's it's it's different on the other side. You know you know those oh them guys are real stars.
05:25You know and I'm trying to become a real star. Right. You know so when you're selling tickets and you got people coming to your events that's when you can really see the real when it when it comes to a lot of stuff outside of social media.
05:35For sure. And I think you made a good point. I think a lot of people with social media everybody just you know monetize monetize monetize monetize. It's okay to have a hobby.
05:43It's okay to do something you enjoy. For sure. And that's fine. Yeah that's fine. Yeah. A lot of people you know they find their purpose in things that they love to do.
05:50But you don't have to monetize every single hobby. Like it's okay. For sure. Exactly. It's okay. So the tour right now that you're on you've been knocking out all these cities.
06:00The Purpose Chaser Tour. Let's talk about that. Why you even chose that name for such a you know for this.
06:06And I said I may keep it that name forever for real. You know what I'm saying.
06:10Trademark and put your stamp on it. Exactly. Because my whole entire life that's what I'm going to be doing. I'm going to be chasing purpose.
06:17I'm going to be doing God's assignment for my life you know. And when I say purpose you know I'm sharing my gifts and talents to the world.
06:24I'm being a light to the world. I'm inspiring you know. I'm trying to help people get closer to God. I'm letting people know this is the real reason why I'm where I'm at.
06:34You know. Come on. Preach. Preach. Come on. He gave me strength. He gave me those things to keep going. You know.
06:39I wouldn't be here if it weren't for him to really keep me pushing. Yes.
06:42You know. Because everybody have those moments and times where we feel like you know. Man you know. It's hard. It's tough. Like I need that lift. I need that push.
06:53You know. And like Nip say you got to go through every emotion. You know what I'm saying. One thing that he didn't do was give up.
06:59You know. As long as you don't give up. And you keep going. You're going to always continue to see the. You know. Continue to see that light.
07:05You're going to see them. See those blessings. And you know. Every struggle that we go through. It really is a blessing.
07:12Yes. You know. The blessing is the struggle. You know. Because you becoming a whole other person. You know. Throughout the struggle.
07:17So. Yes. And the opposite of going through whatever you're going through is to not go through it at all.
07:21It is. So. You know. Which side you want to be on? You feel me? Yeah. Exactly.
07:26So. What's next for you? Like navigating life now. You know. You have a beautiful little girl.
07:32Like. What is that like. You know. In these stages. Growing with her. I saw your video yesterday.
07:37You talking about. Ain't no nails going to get close to you. You acting like my daddy now.
07:40Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I got two babies man. But. Yeah. My little girl. Man. She just give me a whole other feeling.
07:47I remember. People used to tell me. That little girl going to do it. Yeah. That little girl going to do it.
07:51But when you get that little girl. Boy. It's going to change it. My boy Chapp tell me all the time. Boy. Boy. You going to be. Boy. She going to get all the money.
07:57You can't tell her no. You know. You got to tell her no.
08:00You know. But. She. Yeah. Man. It's just different. The way she look me in my eyes. The way she just laugh at me.
08:08You know. It's just like. Wow. You know. And you know. Boys. You got to treat them different. You got to. You know.

08:16But that little girl. I'm not finna whoop her. I'm not doing that. I'm not doing that. Oh my lord.
08:20Yeah. Go to your mama. Yeah. You need to go talk to your mama. Get out my face. Okay. Go sit in the corner. I'll tell her something like that. I'm not doing none of that. To be honest. I don't even change her pamper. I can't. I just can't do it.
08:32You know what. No girl. Get out of here. Not doing none of that. I'll give you some sugar. But I ain't doing nothing now.
08:37Oh my god. Go on to your mama. You boo boo. Yep. Go on over there. Yep.
08:40But now how did you potty train your son? Yes. Yeah. Okay. I need tips because it's a lot.
08:47Well for me when it came to potty training we actually allowed him to see other kids like doing it on YouTube.
08:54And they kind of like helped him to want to do it. Like something with my son like he he loved doing things that he see other kids doing.
09:01Of course. So I love like even when it comes to sports or whatever it is if you see a kid playing football he want to go do it.
09:06If you see a kid working out he want to go do it. You know. So we started him off with these little clips from YouTube.
09:12And you know he he eventually started doing it. Mental load.
09:16You know. And then we gave him this uh this seat. Um he used to watch the show um what the hell was that show called?
09:24Uh he got the blue shirt on Blippi. Oh yeah. We gave him a Blippi toilet.
09:30All the rage. Yeah. Just the stuff that he would want to do it. You know what I'm saying.
09:34So that kind of you know got you know got to him. And also you know he got to a point where sometimes he peed in the bed.
09:41And you know we have to hey discipline him. You know you can't do this.
09:45You know. And eventually okay he don't want to be disciplined no more so he goes to the bathroom.
09:49And now he had a point where we say hey I gotta go pee pee. I ain't trying to get that whipping.
09:52Come on. Come on. Let's go.
09:54Yeah. So um but it was like a slow process. You know.
09:57But once he starts seeing other kids and we just tell him yo this is what big boys do.
10:00This you know big boys don't pee in the bed. You know. Just little stuff like that.
10:04Of course. All right. I got you. Yeah.
10:06Do you ever take your kids on tour with you or on the road when you do other shows?
10:10My son went to a show in Atlanta but out of town. He been to an out of town show but it's been a minute.
10:16Okay.
10:16Yeah. Um but uh yeah he he he haven't traveled with me in a while. I do want to get him to another show so he can see it.
10:23Yeah. Um on this level and just be like you know wow but he also watched me on his phone.
10:29So he he always see me like daddy you had a show daddy you working you know.
10:32So he all he know that you know I'm doing these things.
10:35Yeah.
10:36Yeah.
10:36But he'll be at a show soon.
10:38I love that.
10:39So what's the coolest thing about just traveling and being you know doing all these different shows and.
10:44Man just.
10:45Elevating the skits.
10:46Um it's just uh it's just we in the real world.

10:50You know we we doing it we we're doing what like I said the OGs did and I'm just thankful that I'm on that track that right track of of you know doing it.
10:59And like I said I just want to keep elevating with it and you know just this just keep me in my my zone in my mode to to let me know hey I'm doing the right thing.

12:12We got a lot of dope comedians but the best part for me is you know you have your favorite
12:17comedians and they all live in all these different spots.
12:19I get so hyped when I see you know the little collaboration at the top and it'll tell you
12:24such and such and such and such.

12:26What two of my faves you know somebody from the Bay.

12:33I love to see people working together because we got to work together to get to the top.

12:37You know a lot of people get that you know I got to do it by myself.
12:39How important is it for you at least in your journey for you to have a team of people?
12:43Oh you got to have a team you know you can't do this by yourself you know especially
12:46when you getting up to that to that higher level yeah you got to have people that pour into
12:50you that's on the same understanding as you you know.
12:54You know that if you look at Kevin Hart I always say he's the blueprint when it come
12:59to team you know I'm saying Kevin is Kevin he's funny but his his team is way that machine
13:05is big that's huge.
13:07Yeah.
13:07You know I'm heartbeat but that is huge you know so yeah if you it's levels to just being
13:14a community yeah that's another thing of how far do you want to take it.

13:18Yeah so your team got to be on a thousand.
13:21Everybody got to be doing that assignment.

13:23And everybody damn they got to be doing the same thing as the main guy if this person
13:29doing something why are you not doing it you know I'm saying this person why are you not
13:32doing it how what is your mindset how far do you want to take yourself you know I'm saying
13:38you should have this whole this mindset before you even got here your mind should should have
13:41been I want to be the biggest I want to be the best I want to be the you know I'm saying
13:44but you gotta it starts in the beginning it starts with your day it starts with you know I'm
13:50saying it starts with that how do you start your day um 5 30 in the morning I work out
13:54oh yeah and I got that from Kev really and I just start back doing that I just start back
14:00doing that because Kev actually in Atlanta right now shooting a movie and he actually
14:05goes to the gym that I go to and uh I saw him at the gym and then I hit Harry up and he hit
14:11Harry's like yeah we in there at 5 30 every morning I was like I didn't even know that
14:13because I go at like 9 10 but I'm thinking myself I'm like how long this 44 year old man getting up
14:19at 5 30 in the morning I'm 30 why I'm not getting up at 5 30 in the morning to go work out you know
14:24I'm saying I ain't got nothing else to do you know so that just switched my mindset today you know
14:28and I was athlete as well so that's athlete stuff you know 6 a.m. workouts you know you had to be
14:34there you know so yeah late you gotta run left yeah so that's that's how I start my day with
14:39working out you know that's what keep me going um did you find you were more productive for sure
14:44I had a whole I had my whole day yeah you know I'm saying my I ain't got to do nothing I can start
14:49I got if I want to do a ski I could we got the time if I want to work on some stand-up I could do
14:53everything was was was was ready I'm good I'm good to go yeah so I know you said you know you have
15:00some ideas not ideas you are looking to go more into acting what's next for that oh yeah so um
15:06I was blessed enough to book a movie a 24 film that I'll be shooting soon nice um I'm supposed
15:12to be in New York for two months shooting that we're just waiting on the official uh um movie
15:17shoot dates for uh we supposed to shot it last year doing a writer's strike but the writer's
15:23strike happened so that kind of pushed it back which is okay um you know timing is everything
15:28you know everything happened for a reason you know so uh God prepares in those times that we
15:34might even you know we don't even know um that uh uh I also got offered this other movie role uh
15:41that I can't really talk too much about but yeah got offered that um we're working on a lot of
15:47different pitches from sitcom shows um that we're doing this is one of our my writers who's actually
15:53creating and helping uh create the show right now um my dog Malcolm um yeah he won't I I want him to
16:00start using his name too he called himself champ why nobody else no it's cool it's cool because you
16:07know when they get big when they get big people they not good and your name you get called at the
16:13oscars you know they don't say you want them you want your real name them whole way that's how I feel
16:17like I used to be ambition banks okay back in the day but I had to change my name because yeah I
16:22wanted desi banks what point did you change when I switched over to instagram okay yeah that's when
16:27I was like you know I want to change my name now you know I'm saying I feel like because the ambition
16:32man that's cool that was a that was a I knew what ambition stand for I you know they gave me that but
16:38that's always stick you know it's in me but I wanted desi banks to to be that name yeah that's my real
16:45name that that that glow just think about all the legends Kevin Hart I was gonna say Lauren Lawrence
16:50nobody else's motivation Mike it ain't Monique uh you know just that yeah I mean that's for me but
16:56but no but that's not but I look at them as that too so it's like you know don't be you know I ain't

17:35he's fire you know and I'm just thankful to have him on my team to to be a creative guy for me

18:27um it's dope um they've been in this atmosphere right now and I had a lot of you know I work
18:32with it I work with the nfl too so I had a lot of you know people hit me up asking me to do some
18:36work but we kind of got in late you know yesterday which is cool um so you didn't get outside yesterday
18:41yeah I did we want to go get some food but it wasn't that too too crazy um we also have a uh
18:47after party tonight at uh annex annex annex so yeah I've been teasing you about that yeah pull up
18:54at annex tonight uh draft party it may be some nfl players in essence that's what y'all worried
19:00about so much but remember just because they got the height of the shoulders they might not be a
19:05prospect they might not be a prospect you're right you're right about that because there's some
19:08people that didn't get drafted last night this is true that was at home with they family had
19:12that suit on and that's okay I feel like everybody put so much pressure on the first day if you get
19:17picked you still get picked you on the team yes but you hey you you you you you when that first
19:26ride clicked I'm guaranteed yeah that is but nah it's still a blessing to get those opportunities
19:31anyway and you still have a chance to you know I'm saying do what you got to do still make your
19:36name you just gotta y'all boy still blessed out there yes absolutely desi banks thank you so much

20:23at that time I was really thought I was talking to the birds for real and they was talking back
20:27they was talking back yeah he was and I was like all right and I went in the house
20:31but that's probably one of my favorite yeah my dad called me this morning he said I said you know
20:37dad I gotta do this for work today he was like desi banks I love desi banks tell him my favorite
20:42skit I said dad I'm not gonna remember all I don't remember all that but I can tell you my favorite
20:47skit which one no more dick uh nah for sure how you gonna tell me no yeah yeah exactly y'all women be
20:55trying to act like y'all just got out of power y'all do get upset with us when y'all can't get it
21:00y'all may not say that but y'all be mad because why you holding back exactly what you holding back
21:05well we act like it then act like I got power stop trying to act like it will set us down it will get
21:11us together yeah it does not just together I didn't I didn't like that you was spreading the
21:15message but it was relatable it was and I'm sure a lot of dudes use that power now
