and there he is Jonathan welcome back to uh welcome back to Hockey Town thank you very much
00:07
thanks for having me yeah no problem I texted one of your friends there Nick Lindstrom I said hey
00:11
give me something about uh about Jonathan Erickson he says I don't know if I got much on Big E just
00:15
tell him I said hello there you go okay but uh that's that's a good that's a good thing that he
00:20
doesn't have anything bad to say yeah I wasn't looking for anything bad of course just looking
00:25
for something you know a little bit but anyways we're here to talk about your uh your baronet
00:30
sauce now I didn't realize that this was kind of like a um this is kind of like a Swedish thing
00:35
isn't it yeah obviously it's origins from France uh but then I think uh the Swedes or the whole
00:42
country kind of took that upon themselves and we kind of have it on everything it's basically like
00:50
you guys use ranch we use it on everything and anything so it's uh
00:55
the more people you talk about what they're using it for it you just come up with new things
00:59
all the time so it's a very versatile sauce that's been used in Sweden like in many different ways
01:06
yeah and what made you decide to get into this uh into this this kind of thing I think uh obviously
01:12
me missing that sauce a lot because that was something I had at home all the time in the refrigerator or
01:19
so um I always had friends and family that was coming over visiting me and uh our family they had to
01:27
bring bernet sauce for me and then my wife always wanted salt salt licorice candy uh but I don't think
01:33
that would swing as well uh with the North Americans I think I think the bernet sauce might
01:41
do it better yeah a little taste of home for sure so I've got my I've got my favorite so which
01:45
which one of your three is your favorite well it depends what I'm using it for I think uh that's
01:52
the thing depending on uh uh if I have a steak or something like that uh use it that has a lot of
02:02
flavor to it already I probably would go with the original or the garlic peppercorn um but if I
02:08
want some a little bit more zing or you know um uh a little bit more spice to it like for like
02:15
chicken or like a poke bowl with like rice or like you know tuna or shrimps and stuff I would go with
02:24
the sriracha one every time I think the sriracha one is my favorite it's funny you mentioned it
02:29
because uh without even really studying up on this I did have it on steak this weekend and I and I
02:34
didn't you know I I gotta admit I'm not much of an expert on this kind of sauce but it was fantastic
02:39
oh great I'm I'm I'm glad you liked it yeah no it's great so how did you hook up with this company
02:45
here in Detroit uh well we actually started with uh importing a Swedish brand uh many years ago now
02:52
actually um and uh just to try it out you know to instead of investing in uh making it over in
03:01
in the US before we even saw how the people would respond to it but then we got only basically
03:09
positive reviews and feedback from from the one we imported and then uh we were looking into a
03:16
collaboration with the Swedish company and then they were in they were about to sell the company
03:21
to a different one and then we just decided to make our own and make it in Detroit because that was
03:26
a big thing for me I really wanted to be made in Detroit um because uh yeah I just if we're gonna
03:34
sell it there we have to make it there so yeah I went over there last week and uh man what a great
03:38
place it is family owned and operated you got to pull for uh people like that great great family and
03:44
people and uh it's it's been an honor having them on board I'm so glad uh that uh they're on our side
03:51
you know um it's funny that uh I met a Marie that's uh our go-to girl you know you met her probably
03:58
yep nicest family there um so uh it's um I met her she was working as a volunteer during the Red Wings
04:06
game in the um at the Joe so I met her I saw her every day of the every game day I saw her she was
04:14
standing in the same spot every time by the Olympia room so and there was always someone who always
04:21
you know said hi when we were walking by and you know I'm not gonna say that it was just Marie because
04:28
there was so many good people that uh and friendly people working at the Joe and and obviously at
04:33
Little Sears too but um I really remembered her and then um she kind of we got in a
04:40
uh we talked over I think uh LinkedIn and she mentioned she had her family had a sauce business
04:47
and um and then we just she's on our team and we're really happy about that yeah I just took off
04:55
from there for sure uh people cannot check this out at a livesauce.com of course in this story I'll
05:00
also uh put the link um and they got all sorts of great sauces she loaded me down with um you know
05:05
I mean I just I just brought a bunch of salsa here I got barbecue sauce uh they gave uh all this
05:10
but this uh this baronades man really good and uh I really enjoyed it a lot so I still have a
05:15
bunch of it at home I told my kids I said listen put this on a wrap or something like whatever you
05:19
want to do you know and I told them all about it so hey uh switching gears here for just a couple
05:23
minutes and we'll cut you loose uh do you miss if you miss going to the rink every day absolutely
05:28
yeah I do you know it's such an intense life obviously with the playing and I think at the end of
05:35
the summer when you've been away from the from the guys and the the rink and you know the team and
05:40
everyone around the team it's such a family place you know you come to the rink you knowing the people
05:48
everyone around everyone's you know it's going towards the same goal but you know having fun but
05:57
also being very professional um it's a really special atmosphere that I really miss miss a lot
06:04
it's um it's going from 100 to to zero uh a little bit too fast so uh um yeah I I truly miss it
06:15
I encourage people to stay in the game as long as they can yeah I play uh I'll be you know I'll be
06:20
much older than you coming up in just a couple weeks but yeah it's like uh I play as much as I can
06:24
I play with my son too which is like just a thrill all the time to play with your kids who's now going
06:29
to be 21 and you know he used to have trouble keeping up with me now it's obviously reversed
06:34
but uh but uh anyway 680 games uh in the NHL in 76 in the playoffs all with the Red Wings that's that
06:40
that's gonna that's gonna be that's a proud stat oh I was truly lucky to be in the Red Wings
06:46
organization for my whole career uh obviously really happy about that and couldn't ask for a better
06:52
place to be at so made a lot of friends and you know family and uh it was nice to have the Wings
06:58
come back to Stockholm here um in November so I get to see all the people that works around the team
07:04
and uh obviously there's a a lot of new guys from when I left it's been a big changes uh in the last
07:11
few years in the in terms of the lineup um but it's um it was really nice to have them here I have the
07:18
we were a bunch I think we were a crew of 25 people going to one of the games there so
07:23
and I had I had the chance to get some of the um um the the guys who were working around the team at
07:30
my house they came to my house one night and was I felt like a really special time to invite them
07:35
and um really appreciated all the time they spent on me and um so it was really nice to see them all
07:43
yeah I think since you played for the Wings is Dylan the only remaining player that you played
07:48
with uh Fabry was there um yeah and I think well Saimo I played a little bit with I think uh
07:57
obviously uh let's see here we had uh Vileno was up a little bit um Rasmussen okay uh also up
08:08
up and down a little bit he was up up and coming there uh so there's a few but uh a lot of guys
08:15
obviously are are new are you are you paying attention to the team from uh over there in Sweden
08:20
yeah but it's tough I can't really watch any games because uh I have three kids and they don't sleep
08:26
super good uh so uh with the time time change it's it's tough to watch the games but uh it was
08:34
really cool to see them here in Stockholm and then I was over just a few weeks ago too to
08:38
watch them uh play a couple games yeah all right final thing here for you then we'll uh cut you
08:44
loose uh you're you got a you got a pretty big birthday coming up here in a couple weeks got
08:47
anything planned oh um no but I'm I'm noticing there's some big plans uh being in the uh in the air
08:56
I've been sensing some uh you know behind the scenes uh so I I know there's something going
09:04
on and being planned for in uh I think it's something in uh June early June I think I've
09:11
kind of lurked my way and uh you know noticed that there's something going on then no you can't go
09:18
anywhere then and then you have to stay here oh well all that but it's um yeah I know it's crazy
09:25
39 to 40 sounds very sounds a lot older with 40. That's right hey uh by the way I uh I think I
09:34
I know I know I met you once and I can't remember exactly which event it was at but it was at a big
09:38
event so were you at Kid Rock's 40th birthday party at Ford Field? Yes. I think I might have met
09:45
you there that day and I was I also yeah yeah because Chelios's bar opened before you got here and I
09:50
remember the night before the Super Bowl everybody went there Uri Hoodler ended up with like
09:54
lipstick all over his face don't ask me how it was just uh kind of crazy sounds about right
10:00
anyways I will keep you good luck with everything we're to give this a good plug for you and uh we
10:06
hope that uh we hope you see you here back in a hockey town sometime in the future absolutely I'll be
10:11
there
10:12
you
