00:00Actually, we're not going to do it. Why? Why are you in here?
00:02Why are you in here?
00:03Oh, please.
00:04You never come in here at the end of the show. Why are you in here?
00:07Anything I can do to interrupt you from playing that Lucky Python song.
00:14You know, we could make that a $1,000 song also.
00:17No, no, no, no.
00:19Because I'm there with you, Bill.
00:21Isn't there a long version of that?
00:22Shut up!
00:23Oh, no.
00:24I calculated that John, over the course of his career,
00:27has probably played that song 10,000 times.
00:30So I've only heard it probably, you know, 6,500, right?
00:35I calculated I've done 13,000 shows.
00:38Yeah.
00:3913,000 shows.
00:41I was like, okay, all right, so why? Why are you in here?
00:43I'm here because many of those shows,
00:46sometimes you make a big mistake on the air,
00:49you go, oh, there is one for the Hall of Fame.
00:51Right, right, right.
00:52Well, actually, John, you have been nominated for this year's class
00:56for the Radio Hall of Fame in Chicago.
00:59Wow.
00:59So it's a really cool thing.
01:01How do we come in here?
01:02Give me the bell.
01:04The Radio Hall of Fame is a place where all the heavyweights go.
01:08It's like the guys from the 30s, like Amos and Andy.
01:11Oh, thank you, thank you.
01:12Laurel and Hardy.
01:13No, no, no.
01:14Before television, right?
01:15All the big radio.
01:17Then there's Rick Dees, and there's Shadow Stevens is on the list this year
01:21that we're on there with.
01:22What's it, Radio Hall of Fame?
01:24Radio Hall of Fame.
01:25Matt and I were just talking about being happy to be on the Wall of Lew Dogs
01:28down in Seattle.
01:29Yeah, yeah.
01:30I'll try that because you can get a hot dog.
01:31But I don't get a hot dog.
01:32No.
01:33Right?
01:34Oh, my God, look at this list.
01:36So the Radio Hall of Fame nominees, what they do is there's over a couple of
01:40thousand names that come in.
01:42Every small disc jockey in, like, Spokane and Paducah.
01:47And the committee reviews them, and they select a list of 24 current radio or former radio entertainers
01:56that are-
01:57So I have 23 chances of losing this.
02:00There are six, I think six to eight people that will be inducted in November.
02:04Okay.
02:05So there's a voting process.
02:06But your name is up there against, some in radio might recognize Charles Laquadera and
02:11Matt Siegel from Boston.
02:13Yeah, Matt Siegel from Boston and Charles Laquadera from Boston.
02:15Kid Leo is on the list this year.
02:17Okay, so all right.
02:18So now you already got three people.
02:20Matt Siegel, Charles Laquadera and Kid Leo.
02:22Kid Leo from Cleveland.
02:23Matt St. John from New York City.
02:26Okay, he's in.
02:27Aaron Elder.
02:28He was a talk show.
02:29He was a pretty prominent national radio guy.
02:31Bob Rivers.
02:32Bob Rivers.
02:33I see Bob Rivers online.
02:34I'm not making this.
02:36I think this is a good year for you, John.
02:38I know your humility is rather rare, but it's very kind of you to say that.
02:44It's really cool.
02:45And I love the fact that at this stage of your career, people are seeing your name on this
02:50list of these amazing talents that have had tenure.
02:54You know, they've lasted a long time because they have talent and they have amazing relationships
02:58with their listeners, right?
02:59Which is what you enjoy and it's also a reason why you're on this list.
03:03Well, I am honored.
03:05I am in shock.
03:07When do they hand this out?
03:09The ballot, the voting, I think, starts tomorrow.
03:12And there's 800 of your industry peers that get a ballot.
03:16And they vote for six names on the list.
03:18And then they tally them up and I think in November it will be announced.
03:22In November.
03:24Yes, that's when the adduction ceremony is in New York City.
03:26So you don't have to travel to Chicago.
03:28Oh, that's good.
03:29That's good.
03:30So good for you, man.
03:31That's so cool, right?
03:32No, no.
03:33This is a super-duper honor, in all honesty.
03:37And I love the idea.
03:39I hate to say the phrase, but it's an honor just to be nominated.
03:44But in all honesty, I would like this.
03:52Yeah.
03:53I really would like this.
03:54But you go to the Radio Hall of Fame website and you start looking at the names of people
03:58that have made a mark in radio, your name should be in there.
04:03Is there any listener voting or no?
04:05There's not.
04:06There's 800.
04:07Yeah.
04:08Well, look at all these knuckleheads.
04:10You think none of us are going to go, vote for me.
04:13They're not going to let listeners vote.
04:16Way to go.
04:17Way to go, John DeBella.
04:18No, this is, this is, this is, you know, look, I personally don't believe I could ever
04:24get a bigger honor than being on the Walk of Fame here in Philadelphia.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Because it affects the people who know me.
04:30Yes.
04:31It affects the people who have chosen to listen to me over all these years.
04:34Yeah.
04:35But, but-
04:36This is a national rating.
04:37This is national.
04:38This is, this is really big.
04:39That's pretty cool.
04:40This is really big.
04:41President Steve got this, didn't he?
04:42Yeah, they did.
04:43They did?
04:44Yeah.
04:45All right.
04:46So maybe I got a chance.
04:47Does this count as our morning show meeting for today?
04:48These are great.
04:49I love you.
04:50Keep doing what you're doing.
04:51So don't play Bright Side?
04:53How about something else?
04:54Can I skip my speed break?
04:56All right.
04:57How about, how about this?
05:00Ah, yeah.
