00:06Let's honor another first responder on 99.5 QYK.

00:11All right, we got Kathy on the phone for First Responder Friday today.

00:14She's honoring her daughter, Sophie.

00:17Good morning, Kathy. How are you doing?

00:19Good morning. I'm doing great. Thanks.

00:21We're glad you reached out to us. So let's talk about Sophie.

00:23How does she serve our community as a first responder?

00:26Well, she works at Tampa General on a very busy floor, and she loves it.

00:33She's taken on additional responsibilities, such as charge nurse, as well as being a preceptor.

00:39Both of those just involve helping anybody, any of their fellow nurses.

00:44So she does that with vigor, I think.

00:46First of all, I think all nurses deserve to be celebrated and their compassion heralded because it's such a hard job.

00:54Absolutely.

00:54That first and foremost.

00:56But, Sophie, I'm just celebrating and bragging on her because I think she does go beyond patient care.

01:03And she treats them like family, where she'll sit and they'll talk to them, braid their hair.

01:11She even decorated a patient's room to celebrate their birthday because she knew it was their birthday and they were in the hospital.

01:17So just going above and beyond, I think, is just kind of her superpower.

01:21You know, I'm sure she's probably talked and told you lots of those stories, you know, like decorating and just being there.

01:29It just, you know, really takes a special person to do that kind of work.

01:32And it really sounds like you knew this all along when Sophie was growing up.

01:35Yeah, you know, she wasn't really sure what she wanted to do, but nursing came into focus in her high school years.

01:42And she's just always been, goes above and beyond for, with regards to compassion and empathy for others.

01:49And I think it's the perfect fit, honestly.

01:52Well, it sounds like it is for sure.

01:53And it sounds like she was raised right, too, Kathy.

01:56I'm not going to take away a whole lot of credit, but I'm just thankful she is who she is.

02:01Well, we're going to give you a little bit of credit.

02:02But I also want to know, what does Sophie like to do when she's not working?

02:05What are some of her hobbies?

02:07Well, she has a cat that she bought that she absolutely adores.

02:12But she loves to go out with her nursing friends and go out to brunch and do fun things around Tampa, which is so easy to do.

02:20Absolutely.

02:21Well, Kathy, it's so cool that we got to learn about your daughter, Sophie.

02:24And it's so great to hear how proud you are of her, like, in your voice.

02:29It's really, really neat.

02:30And we want to do this, and maybe this will help with brunch next time or something like that.
