00:00absolutely absolutely so you guys are in your uh music of the spheres tour right now
00:03where's where's arianne uh arianne come here
00:07there you go how are you doing nice to meet you i heard you guys are coming to a concert in a week
00:16or so yes we'll be in atlanta we sure will be well we really look forward to seeing you both
00:21and it's our our first like i've been a fan forever it's our first one oh that's nice
00:27yeah that's nice well we just wanted to say hello because we heard about you
00:30well that's very exciting very nice to meet you all right nice to meet you nice to get back to me
00:37all right oh thank you guys thank you guys what was your question yeah so well you're in jersey
00:44right now are you new jersey yeah we're about to play in uh new jersey yeah okay how's touring going
00:49so far pretty pretty good in the main i think there's quite a few challenges that we've found
00:55uh touring uh touring this time you know it's things are tricky in some ways behind the scenes
01:03tricky you know i think we feel more gratitude for our audience than ever before because of so many
01:11factors that pandemic being the main one and you know the economy and the heat everything like
01:19yeah i think we feel so like johnny says behind the scenes it's been a little stressful but on
01:25stage it's been better than ever and uh so it's almost like all the emotions around touring have
01:31just got a bit stronger sure sure absolutely and i'm sure like when you're on stage now especially
01:37because you've been i hate to say removed for the last couple of years but you have been
01:41those feelings have to feel so new as if you guys were touring you know when you were when you
01:47first became a band they feel so new and they also feel so temporary in the best way in the sort
01:52of carpe diem kind of yeah live every day as it's as if it's your last it feels like that you know
01:59absolutely absolutely all right so you guys will be atlena on saturday yeah he's been stadium so how
02:05do you guys come down or calm yourselves after doing these massive stadium shows it's we don't pretty
02:11hard that's the million dollar rehab question i think we we each have our own methods right now
02:22backstage we have an ice bath which a lot of us use oh yeah and then we you know we some of us like to
02:29go out and meet people some of us like to drink wine so you know there's all kinds of ways but it's a
02:35very it's very interesting but sort of none of them are successful really right you know you never end
02:40up feeling all right i'm over that now do you know what i mean yeah i do yeah i guess to like
02:445 a.m i suppose i better try and go to bed because it's such a high you know that's i think that's the
02:50beautiful thing about humans gathering together is they can or at least our audience can give us
02:56this buzz that's so wonderful sure but but like any good drug i guess it's addictive and it's hard
03:05wouldn't it come down absolutely you just want more and more of it and thankfully right now
03:09you guys are kind of getting every single night or every you know a couple of nights yeah no we're
03:13very lucky absolutely so uh how is it for you guys getting ready for this world tour um after
03:19obviously having a couple of years of not knowing when or if you'd ever be able to tour again um was a
03:25little harder mentally to prepare than maybe in years past uh
03:29no i think it was in a way it was like we were very very excited to go on tour we
03:35better rehearse than we've ever been because we started rehearsing really early because we were just
03:41desperate to get out i think so mentally it was fine it's that all the all the difficulties have sort of
03:49been like shipping transportation prices yeah stuff we never thought we never had to think about
03:56these things before like how much does it cost to get a shipping container from uh you know france
04:03to brazil things like that or the or the you know like like most people having to deal with right now
04:09the price of gas or all these things that affect everything absolutely absolutely so all right so fast
04:16forward to present day to today uh just i don't think any of us want to really relive the last couple
04:21of years uh i could ask some of my friends but they probably wouldn't want to either uh your latest
04:26album music of the spheres uh which is obviously part of your show along with you know yellow and
04:32clocks and uh paradise and viva la vida i can go on and on and on but your show will be over by the time
04:38i finish um until the end of your show tonight uh or i mean each show on this tour is powered by
04:45renewable energy yes which is a really interesting concept that i found uh what's that what's that
04:49about like talk about that okay a friend way well a few years ago we felt like we couldn't really tour
04:56again unless we felt a little better about the energy consumption that it requires and so we said
05:03that kind of publicly and then a lot of great inventors and environmentalists reached out to us
05:09and have really helped us to build a tour that is it's not all the way clean yet or green but it's a
05:17lot further it's like 50 more and some of those things are things outside of the show like planting
05:24trees for every ticket sold or or um funding ocean cleanup machines or environmental lawyers but then
05:31inside the stadium itself we have some kinetic flooring which creates power when people move up and
05:38down and some bicycles which create power when people pedal them and some solar panels that create
05:44power and today we have i think for the first time a windmill uh in one bit which so we're just trying
05:51to make the inside of the stadium as as forward thinking as possible uh environmentally because it
05:58alleviates our sense of we shouldn't really be on tour uh environment you know it's we've got to try
06:06make this as clean as we can sure did you guys so did all your cities do you just go to different
06:12gyms and find the best in shape people to pedal for the energy i mean johnny tends to do that anyway
06:17but it's nothing to do with the environment stuff he just likes to seek out the buffest guys
06:22and uh yeah no i i think we're very i mean as far as i can tell our audience is amazing
06:31all around the world and very varied in age and size and everything sure and there's always
06:38so up to this point those bikes are being pedaled all the time by someone or other this seems to be
06:44a very fit as soon as the doors open yeah a fit audience how many miles do you think they're
06:50pedaling per show well it's funny to say that i i did a rehearsal the other day on a bike and i think
06:56it was like uh like 20 no i'm sorry about 30 miles it took me to do a whole concert wow yeah
07:04you don't have to do it when you come to the show you can't just sit there with a beer too
07:09about 29 more than i can do that's great that's great all right so i've seen i've seen posts on
07:16instagram of your tour uh and it looks like a high energy celebration and for someone that's never
07:21been to a cold place show which like i said i've been a huge fan since 05 x and y was my very
07:26first album that i went back and bought parachutes and a rush of blood to the head and had all of
07:29them up until now thanks i'm going to a cold place show for the very first time like what can
07:34they expect well fireworks if you like fireworks you'll have a nice time that's number one and then
07:43if you like like lots of lights lighting up and lasers and yeah you have these really cool wristbands
07:50that i don't think we've used in atlanta yet because we haven't played there for a while
07:54and it's funny because for a long time it was like our favorite place to play and then i
07:58i guess once we started doing stadiums i think you're the stadium was still being built is that
08:04right uh the last time you guys were on e probably yeah i mean that timeline kind of checks out yeah
08:09yeah and uh so it's it's full of like it's basically like a giant children's party
08:16would i as i described it's crossed with fourth of july i don't know i'm not selling it very well
08:21you don't really have to even enjoy the music i it seems to me you can bring bring your own music
08:29and still have a nice time with all the visions look good pop the earbuds in and listen to something
08:34completely yeah that's awesome well i mean guys i can't tell you how much of an honor this is just
08:42to talk to you oh likewise thank you it goes both ways man yeah thank you i mean i'm sure you've heard
08:47this from fans before you were you were a very much impactful part of my life like early 20s and
08:53even to now like every other friday because i alternate between you guys and jack white when i
08:58drive home from work i mean yeah i mean you're there like always just it's just like pick an album
09:02it's on well we really look forward to seeing you and arianne in a week or so oh absolutely yeah
