Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its first restaurant in Mexico early next year, marking a major expansion, according to the Associated Press. The chain is partnering with Alsea to launch the location in Mexico City, with plans to explore further growth across Latin America. Taco Bell has repeatedly failed to gain a foothold in Mexico, with past locations in Mexico City and Monterrey closing shortly after opening. Chipotle sources about half of its avocados from Mexico, though those imports are not currently subject to tariffs. Founded in 1993, the company operates 3,700 restaurants and is expanding internationally, with new locations in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
