00:00You know, the show, the character is quite intense, and so, yes, I had to be very thoughtful.
00:05Certainly, I was looking to do something very different for Meredith, and I did want to make a complete departure.
00:10But when I read this, I gave it a lot of thought, and it's important to tell this story the right way.
00:16And I think our idea to tell it based on different perspectives and ask ourselves the question, you know,
00:25why do we hold the beliefs that we hold, and why do we listen to a story and believe what we believe,
00:30is an interesting thing to explore as an actor.
00:40I had heard about this story. It was very popular in the United States, this story, when the documentary came out,
00:46and so a lot of people were watching me and asking me about it. I hadn't seen it, but I felt like I didn't need to
00:52because I had heard so much about it from everyone who watched it.
00:55I think it was a role that I really could completely disappear into.
01:00I think she thinks she's completely justified and doing things for all the right reasons.
01:04And then she falls into victim mode very easily, and I think the line between victim and villain
01:11is a very fine line. I think a lot of people who are quite comfortable being villains
01:16also are quite comfortable being victims when confronted with their behavior.
01:22The character is from a completely different place than Meredith Grey,
01:25walks different, talks different, sounds different, dresses differently,
01:30has different experience altogether. So it was a role that I could really completely dive into
01:37in every way with the hair and makeup and wardrobe and dialect and everything.
01:42So it gave me the opportunity to leave her behind.
