00:10allegedly showing Marine Le Pen

00:12greeting scores of fans in Paris

00:14following a court ruling that banned her

00:16from running for public office for 5 years

00:18In the video we can see

00:20the far right national rally leader

00:22greeting and taking pictures with fans

00:24The caption shared with the video reads

00:26The French people love Marine Le Pen

00:28and demand that her guilty verdict

00:30is immediately overturned

00:32This is a reference to her conviction

00:34at the end of March for embezzling EU funds

00:36As well as receiving a 100,000 euro fine

00:39and a suspended prison sentence

00:41Le Pen was also banned from running for public office

00:44which has immediately come into force

00:46despite her appeal against the verdict

00:48The video, however, has been miscaptioned

00:51A reverse image search of a still from the clip

00:54shows us that while it does indeed show Le Pen

00:56being greeted by adoring fans

00:58it actually dates back to April 2022

01:01just before the first round of the French presidential election that year

01:05So it's misleading to suggest

01:07that this video shows crowds of people

01:09taking to the streets to support Le Pen

01:11following her conviction in 2025

01:13However, it's also important to note

01:15that many did come out in support of Le Pen

01:17following the court decision

01:19The account that shared the miscaptioned video

01:21also more recently shared a similar video

01:24of Le Pen greeting fans in Paris

01:26This one says that she was swarmed by supporters

01:28after giving a speech at a rally

01:30It matches another video shared

01:32by Le Pen's official social media accounts

01:34on the same day

01:35the 6th of April

01:36nearly a week after her conviction

01:38lending credibility to its authenticity
