So I switched out to the new Shrixon driver this year, I've been using the
00:06
Shrixon driver since 2019 so this is my third different model of it so I feel
00:10
like every year they keep getting better. The two fairway woods I've had I've had
00:13
for four or five years at this stage and so I don't like changing my equipment
00:18
too much. My irons I put them in at the end of last year it's just a new model
00:24
iron the Shrixon have come out with I think they're pretty similar to last
00:27
years and they're probably feeling a little bit more solid. Yeah like I said
00:31
I don't like changing my equipment too much so when I find something I like I
00:34
like to keep it. What happens when one of the guys comes up with new equipment and
00:38
he wants to buy a new driver in the air and what happens then do you give it a go?
00:41
So if it's a new if Shrixon come out with a new product I'll do my absolute best to
00:45
get it in the bag and I'm generally pretty good at it and they know that so
00:49
there hasn't been a time since I've started using the Shrixon driver that I've
00:52
struggled to get in the bag so hopefully they can keep coming out with good
00:55
drivers and I can do them. What about your wedge line up?
00:57
I don't see a wedge line up I just carry I carry three a pitching wedge but that's
01:01
part of the set but I I carry a gap wedge it's a 50 degree bent 51 and I've got a
01:06
58 degree full face Cleveland wedge so it's there's a big gap there but I I try
01:12
putting in a sand wedge like a 55 or 56 degree and it I find it takes away the
01:18
feel from for me a little bit and I end up hitting every shot full out whereas
01:22
when I've got that gap I can kind of play around with a little bit more and and be
01:26
creative and that's that's how I like. And do you tweak with the the lineup as a
01:30
whole too much on a week like this? Never no I mean this is my this be my this
01:35
has been my setup for a few years now I had a two iron say I would have had a two
01:39
iron in the bag in Portrush but to be honest the new long irons the three iron
01:44
is is as good as a two iron and you know I can hit that low and it goes pretty good
01:48
so there's no there's no point having a two iron that goes five or ten yards
01:52
further you just you know I've got a five wood that three wood and what's your
01:55
only sign is a three iron yeah is that quite rare these days to plays many
01:59
places really I would say yeah but the way they build a club now they're designed
02:04
to hit in the air like that three iron I can hit really in the air but I can
02:06
also do really low as well and like a stinger shot with it it goes pretty good in
02:10
the wind so. So that bag line up there it'd be the exact same every week yeah I
02:16
don't know when you're playing in America Nick? Well I played in America two
02:19
weeks ago and that's what it is so yeah. And what's it like being in Florida I
02:22
remember speaking to you a couple years ago. Yeah I like it it's great look it's a
02:26
great way of life down there to be honest I feel like it's helped improve my
02:29
game I spend a lot of time with world-class players then they're playing
02:32
golf and yeah yeah it's it's it's a great great place to practice you know I
02:37
I think I love Ireland and I love being there and I'd love to live there but I
02:41
just can't get done in Ireland like you get done in Florida so I I hadn't been
02:46
home since Christmas I got back last week for the first time so yeah I don't get I
02:50
don't get home as much as I would like. Well there's gonna be a lot of demands on
02:53
your time now you're back in the UK this week. Thanks for speaking to you. Thanks for having me.
