00:00Archbishop Socrates Villegas pays tribute to the late Pope Francis, who died on Monday, April 21.
00:07Villegas says in a message on a Facebook post,
00:10he was mocked and threatened by government authorities for his stand against the extrajudicial killings.
00:15The Pope personally encouraged him in Rome to continue guiding the people through his pastoral letters.
00:21Villegas adds,
00:23He knew his bishops. He knew our tears. He knew us and he loved us. He taught us not to fear.
00:29Villegas also recalls the time Pope Francis made a historic visit to the Philippines in 2015,
00:35years after Super Typhoon Yolanda caused massive destruction in the country.
00:39The late Pope, wearing a yellow raincoat over his robes, also held a mass in Tacloban amid the heavy rain
00:45to give comfort to the survivors of the Super Typhoon.
00:48Aside from Archbishop Villegas, global figures also pay their tribute.
00:52Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posts a picture of him with Pope Francis on his ex-account,
00:57honoring how the Pope prayed for Ukrainians and peace in Ukraine.
01:01French President Emmanuel Macron also honors the late Pope,
01:05saying he had always stood with the most vulnerable and fragile, doing so with great humility.
