'The Monster' is a "1925 silent horror mystery film" directed by Roland West and starring Lon Chaney. Based on a stage play by Crane Wilbur, the film follows a group of people who become trapped in an abandoned sanitarium run by the sinister Dr. Ziska. As eerie events unfold, amateur detective Johnny Goodlittle must uncover the truth behind the doctor’s twisted experiments. With "atmospheric cinematography, suspenseful storytelling, and Chaney’s chilling performance", this film is considered an early example of the “old dark house” horror subgenre.
