00:00On Thursday, Mona's gathered in Nairobi to bid farewell to Nadia Anzaki Olubunmi,

00:05a Nigerian content moderator whose sudden and mysterious death last month has left many in shock.

00:11The 43-year-old was found dead in an apartment on the auscurs of Kenya's capital on March 7,

00:15three days after she failed to report to work.

00:18Her body was discovered in a state of decomposition, raising questions that remain unanswered.

00:23Olubunmi worked as a TikTok content moderator for Teleperformance, a multinational outsourcing company.

00:28In the days leading up to her death, she had reportedly mentioned feeling extremely exhaustion.

00:34The cause of her death has yet to be determined.

00:37She had disappointment from the management of Teleperformance Kenya.

00:42There's someone who has been requesting on different stations to be allowed to travel home

00:47and were given different excuses like look at the balance, work permit.

00:53I mean, these are not things that should be coming from the management, things like no work permit.

00:57Employees should not be going to get some work permit themselves.

01:01Content moderators working for subcontracted firms based in Kenya have in the past described working conditions

01:07that they say include lower than average pay, lack of mental health support, long working hours and intimidations.
