00:05Incident Minaj is just one of many celebrities that have been victimized by fraudulent 911 calls.

00:12Nicki Minaj was the latest victim of a late-night swatting incident,

00:16causing police to descend upon her Los Angeles-area home last night, April 9th.

00:22According to reporting from the Los Angeles Times,

00:24police received a call informing them of a shooting at Minaj's address at 7.05 p.m.

00:31A department spokesperson told the publication that the caller claimed a friend of theirs shot a black woman,

00:37with two potential suspects dressed in all black present on the property.

00:41Police arrived at the address, which they would not confirm belonged to Minaj, but which a neighbor did,

00:48and determined the call to be a false report, as there was no evidence of a crime.

00:52Other indications that the call was a swatting attempt include the caller contacting the department directly,

00:59rather than by calling 911, which the spokesperson said makes it difficult to trace,

01:05as well as the fact that it was the only call received about the purported incident.

01:10Typically, actual instances of violence will trigger multiple calls, according to the spokesperson.

01:16Swatting is an ongoing problem that often targets people in the public eye.

01:20Chris Pine and Jennifer Aniston both saw police descend upon their homes after false 911 calls,

01:27while a social media streamer and his friends were let out in handcuffs after a viewer swatted him during a live stream.

01:34Cardi B also had to deal with visits from Child Protective Services after a prank call suggested that her children were in danger.

01:44With police responding to reports of child abuse, as well as another reported shooting in 2023, according to the Times.
