00:00Today, Rupert finds cobwebs everywhere in Rupert and the Man in the Moon.

00:30There's a million stories to be told of the things that he's done, and he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:44Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name. Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.

00:58Look at the time, exclaims Mrs. Bear. It's five past five. I must get the tea ready, so you tidy away your things.

01:16Rupert picks up a book. The Man in the Moon came down too soon, he reads.

01:23I wonder if the moon is up yet. He goes to the window.

01:28Oh, look it is, and it's a lovely night. I wish I could go out.

01:35The poor little bear is feeling sad, for it's been raining all day long, so he hasn't been out yet.

01:42Well, you can go for a ride in your chariot over the common to get some fresh air while I get the tea, suggests Mrs. Bear.

01:49But don't be too long. It's exciting flying at night. All is quiet, and the familiar common looks dark and mysterious.

01:59Suddenly Rupert spies Raggedy below. The little creature sees Rupert and beckons frantically.

02:06Rupert lands beside him. There's a funny-looking man on the common, whispers Raggedy. Look!

02:13Rupert sees a strange-looking man sitting on a bench nearby, eating something from a bowl.

02:20How odd! exclaims Rupert. It's much too cold for a picnic. Perhaps he's lost.

02:27He and Raggedy move nearer.

02:30Hello! cries the man, looking up and waving cheerfully. Would you like some cold porridge?

02:37Before Rupert can reply, the man leaps up suddenly, dropping his bowl, and jumps about holding his mouth.

02:44Oh, oh, oh, I burnt my mouth, he cries, with supping cold plum porridge.

02:52He sits. Ah, that's better. I'm all right now.

02:56You, you must be the man in the moon.

03:00The man nods. Why, yes. However, did you guess?

03:04I know the rhyme! cries the little bear excitedly.

03:07And he recites it, while the man in the moon beats time with his spoon.

03:12The man in the moon came down too soon and asked his way to Norwich.

03:17He went by the south and burnt his mouth with supping cold plum porridge.

03:22Ah, I'm famous, am I? Then I must go to Norwich, by the south, of course.

03:28Well, it's a long way from here, says Rupert. You'll have to take a train.

03:33Shall I give you a lift to the station?

03:36Thank you, says the man in the moon.

03:38That would be a great help.

03:40I thought it would make a nice change, he continues, excitedly waving his spoon at Rupert.

03:46You see, the moon has got so busy these days.

03:50Astronauts keep dropping in and leaving bits of machinery all over the place, he grumbles,

03:55as he scrambles into the chariot beside Rupert.

03:58Can I come too? asks Raggedy, with his eye on the man in the moon's wooden spoon.

04:04All right, says Rupert, holding the chariot steady.

04:08He takes off and heads towards the village.

04:11There's a flash of lights and the sound of a car below.

04:15Ooh, what's that? cries the man in the moon.

04:18Just a car, says Rupert, surprised.

04:21Ooh!

04:22He jumps nervously as another car goes by below.

04:26And Rupert swoops down towards the station, just as the express train thunders through.

04:32Ooh, help, a monster! cries the man in the moon, accidentally hitting Rupert on the head with his spoon.

04:41Ow! Rupert rubs his head.

04:45That's not a monster, that's a train, he giggles.

04:49You're going to Norwich on one like that.

04:52Oh, no, decidedly no, declares the man in the moon.

04:56I'm going straight back where I came from.

04:59The astronauts are not nearly as bad as that.

05:02And he looks up.

05:04Ooh, dear.

05:05Where's the moon gone?

05:07It's all right.

05:09The clouds are in the way, says Rupert soothingly.

05:12I'll fly you above them.

05:14The chariot flies up through the swirling, whirling mist, carrying the man in the moon.

05:21And so, at first, neither he nor Rupert missed Raggedy and the wooden spoon.

05:28Hey, stop, my spoon!

05:31It's gone!

05:32He bellows so suddenly and so loudly that poor Rupert jumps in alarm.

05:37Oh, dear!

05:39Raggedy's missing, too.

05:41We'll have to go back and look for them.

05:43Help!

05:44Help!

05:45Horrid cloud!

05:46Help!

05:47I'm sinking!

05:48There he is!

05:49cries Rupert, swooping down towards a thick cloud.

05:53And there is Raggedy, buried up to his waist,

05:57frantically waving the half-eaten spoon.

06:00I'm stuck!

06:01He wails.

06:02Pull me out!

06:03Really, Raggedy?

06:04scolds Rupert.

06:05That was very naughty of you.

06:07But he isn't cross for long.

06:09For the poor little creature is shivering with cold.

06:12And his teeth are chattering like castanets.

06:15I...

06:16I...

06:17I'm...

06:18I'm...

06:19I'm...

06:20I'm...

06:21Sorry!

06:22Cold and wet.

06:23And the clouds are very thick.

06:25Both Rupert's and the man in the moon's teeth start to chatter, too.

06:30Oh!

06:31Look!

06:32There's...

06:33Mr...

06:34And...

06:35Mrs...

06:36Weather!

06:37cries Rupert at last.

06:38Let's ask them to help find the moon.

06:42And he lands outside their house.

06:45He realizes at once why the weather has changed for the worse.

06:49For they're both running in and out, arguing with an old lady in a basket with a broom.

06:55I assure you there are no cobwebs in my house, cries Mrs. Weather running indoors and slamming the door.

07:02But, my dear, it's your turn to be outside, wails Mr. Weather.

07:07I'm here to clear the cobwebs from the sky and clear them I will, shouts the old lady, banging her broom on the door.

07:15Oh, look!

07:16Rupert whispers to Raggedy, pointing at the old lady.

07:20I know a rhyme about her.

07:22There was an old woman tossed up in a basket, seventeen times as high as the moon.

07:28Where she was going I couldn't but ask it, for in her hand she carried a broom.

07:33Yum, yum!

07:35Raggedy eyes the broom hungrily.

07:38Old woman, old woman, old woman, quoth I.

07:41Where are you going to up so high?

07:44The old lady turns and stares at Rupert.

07:47To brush the cobwebs off the sky, she cries crossly.

07:51And he looks as though he could do with a good dust, she cries, brushing Raggedy with her broom.

07:56He's supposed to look like that.

07:58Now there are cobwebs all over my planet, says the man in the moon.

08:03In fact, the whole place could do with a good dust. Those rockets make so much mess, he grumbles.

08:10The old lady is delighted. I'll be there in a jiffy in my basket.

08:14May I go with you, asks the man in the moon.

08:17Yes, hop in.

08:19Goodbye, Rupert. Thanks for the lift, and if you ever come to the moon, I shall be glad to show you around.

08:26Thanks, shouts Rupert, waving goodbye.

08:29Yuckety-yuck, cries the old lady.

08:32No time for that when there's work to be done.

08:35And the basket streaks away.

08:38Oh, thank you, Rupert, sighs Mr. Weather.

08:41I'll go and tell Mrs. Weather she can come out now.

08:44And he hurries indoors to the warm fire.

08:48Mrs. Weather comes out.

08:50The cheek, she explodes, suggesting that there are cobwebs in my house.

08:56I'm sure there aren't.

08:58It was such a lovely night just now, too, he sighs sadly.

09:02And it will be again, I promise, says Mrs. Weather cheerfully.

09:07And she's right.

09:09For by the time Rupert lands outside Raggety's house, the moon is shining and the clouds have gone.

09:15Mr. Grimnasty is standing outside.

09:17You know, Rupert, he says, surprised.

09:20I'm sure I just saw an old lady with a broom and the man in the moon in a basket land there just now.

09:26Wizardy-whiz, that was quick, chuckles Rupert.

09:30Goodbye Raggety.

09:32Goodnight, Mr. Grimnasty.

09:33And Rupert rockets for home.

09:36Leaving the astonished Mr. Grimnasty still staring up at the moon.

09:45Rupert, cries Mrs. Bear as he comes in.

09:48Where have you been?

09:50You've been so long we thought you'd gone to the moon, adds Mr. Bear.

09:55Well, I haven't been quite that far.

09:58But I did meet the man in the moon, chuckles Rupert, and he tells them all about it.

10:05Later that night, Mrs. Bear brings Rupert a mug of hot milk in bed.

10:10Look, Mummy, the moon looks much brighter than usual.

10:14Well, there's nothing like a good dusting, says Mrs. Bear.

10:19Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.

10:26Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.
