It's a bit windy, it's a bit cold, but you're hardcore, you're here.
00:06
And this is a model of a pump track, basically, isn't it?
00:09
It is, yeah.
00:10
So this is what you'd like to have built, what, here at Chase Water?
00:14
Yes, because there's £7 million being invested in Chase Water.
00:18
So we've been told to push the opportunity and try and get it here.
00:22
Obviously, it's very spacious.
00:23
Yeah, yeah.
00:24
And it's something for everyone, and it's inclusive to all.
00:26
Well, that's it, people travel from quite far, don't need to come to Chase Water.
00:31
So it would be used by quite a diverse range of people, big range.
00:36
So what's going on today, then?
00:38
Other than raising awareness for that campaign, you're doing bike checks, is that right?
00:42
Doing bike checks, yeah.
00:44
We've got Phil Kelly over there.
00:45
Yeah.
00:46
He needs a cycle coach.
00:48
He's doing three bike checks for us.
00:50
And then we've got Chelsea here, and we've got the ladies behind us.
00:54
Cool.
00:54
Doing bike registering as well.
00:56
Ah, so is that the safety checks for if it gets stolen and stuff, yeah?
01:00
That's correct, yeah.
01:01
Is that where you come into, that side of things?
01:03
So basically, the bikes will then be put on a bike register.
01:06
Yeah.
01:06
For any reason, the fortunate event is that the bikes are safe, and it'll be registered on
01:11
a bike register.
01:13
Wow.
01:13
We'll be able to find it, give it back to the owner.
01:17
So it's just that extra precaution, really.
01:19
Great.
01:20
And also a deterrent as well, and hopefully, less bikes can be stolen.
01:24
Yeah.
01:24
Well, great stuff.
01:26
Yeah, because some of these bikes are worth a few quid now, aren't they?
01:29
Yeah, they are.
01:29
Yeah.
01:29
Yeah, but they do sometimes pop up down the line, don't they?
01:33
I know we did something at Blockswitch Police Station, and they had a load of push bikes
01:38
there.
01:38
So like you say, if you can reunite that with its own, they're all the better.
01:42
Absolutely.
01:43
Well, good luck with your campaign, guys, and well done for all you're doing here today.
01:46
I'm braving the wind.
01:47
What's your name, man?
01:49
Jamie.
01:50
Jamie.
01:50
Hello, Jamie.
01:51
And this is your bike, isn't it?
01:54
Yeah.
01:54
So you're just having a checkover on it?
01:56
Yeah.
01:56
So what is it you enjoy about cycling and biking?
02:03
Is it the outdoors?
02:05
Yeah.
02:05
And you're an off-roader?
02:07
Yeah?
02:08
You like your bumps?
02:08
Yeah.
02:09
Your bumps and stuff, yeah?
02:10
How long have you been into biking, then?
02:12
Um, I think I'm okay.
02:16
You said you were too?
02:17
Cool.
02:17
And this bike's very smart, mate.
02:19
Now, the guys here are trying to fundraise to get a pump track in Birdwood.
02:23
You know what a pump track is, don't you?
02:25
Would you like a pump track?
02:27
Yeah.
02:28
How cool would it be?
02:30
Good.
02:30
Yeah, you'd really like it, yeah?
02:32
Cool.
02:32
Well, let's go and see what our man's doing around here.
02:35
Hello, sir.
02:36
Introduce yourself.
02:37
Hi, it's Phil.
02:38
Hello, Phil.
02:38
5212.
02:40
Where are you from, Phil?
02:41
5212 Cycles.
02:42
Oh, where's that then?
02:43
Mobile bicycle repairs.
02:44
Okay, so what base?
02:46
In Birdwood.
02:47
Birdwood, yeah.
02:48
And how far do you travel in doing that then?
02:50
As far as Solihull.
02:52
Wow.
02:52
And in about a week's time, Mallorca.
02:55
Yeah?
02:56
Oh, fair do's, mate.
02:57
So I work at various events.
02:59
Yeah.
02:59
Ironmans, all that sort of stuff.
03:01
Oh, great stuff, mate.
03:02
Yeah, just checking over the bike here for the young fella.
03:04
So you're helping out today.
03:05
It's important, isn't it?
03:06
Yeah.
03:06
Because it's a big thing now, cycling.
03:08
But, you know, I do see kids riding around and I do think, I don't think that bike's even
03:13
got a brake.
03:14
Yeah.
03:14
And it's very important in a roadworthy.
03:16
You do see some things that are a bit worrying, to be honest.
03:20
So usually brakes is one of the things.
03:21
But then cables.
03:23
Yeah.
03:23
And then the chains are in usually not great condition.
03:26
Yeah.
03:27
So I've been able to give those a check over, make sure it's safe.
03:30
How's Jamie's bike looking?
03:31
Not too bad.
03:32
Yeah?
03:32
Could be able to do with a new gear cable, though.
03:34
Maybe get a new cable, Jamie.
03:36
Yeah.
03:36
But other than that, not too bad.
03:38
The brakes are good, actually.
03:39
So it's all right.
03:40
Well done, Jamie.
03:41
I'd personally clean the chain a little bit, though.
03:44
I've cleaned it.
03:45
Did you?
03:46
When did you ask me, innit?
03:47
Did you?
03:49
Did he?
03:50
Well, what have you got to say about that, sir?
03:52
Well, I'll show you how to do it.
03:53
So ladies, there is a petition, isn't there, for this pump track?
03:58
There is, yes.
03:58
It's online.
03:59
And you can see here we've got a paper version.
04:03
There are lots of paper versions around Burntwood in lots of different places.
04:08
Please give me a signature.
04:09
So if people want to find it online, what does Google build on the pump track?
04:14
There is a link on the Facebook page that's the pump track built on Burntwood.
04:19
And it's also part on the Staffordshire County Council website.
04:24
Please go on.
04:25
You have to register up, but it only takes two minutes to do so.
04:28
Great stuff.
04:28
Good luck, ladies.
