UK inflation slowed for a second month in March, driven by lower petrol costs. Minister Lilian Greenwood welcomed the news, saying rising wages and measures like the fuel duty freeze and school breakfast clubs are helping with the cost of living, though she admitted more progress is needed to ease pressures on families. 00:00Well, it's really good news that inflation is down for the second row, second month in a row.
00:06And also, of course, that growth, the economy grew last month.
00:11So we're making progress, but we know that there's much more to do.
00:16We want to ensure that people are feeling benefit and feeling a reduction in the cost of living.
00:22We know that wages are rising faster than prices, which is welcome.
00:26But we're also taking action.
00:28And it's why we've done things like freezing fuel duty, which saves drivers on average £59 a year.
00:34And obviously, we're rolling out breakfast clubs in schools across the country to help ease the cost of living on families.
00:43So making progress, but we recognise much more to do.
