00:14Hello, thank you for having me here. Good afternoon.

00:21With Correism achieving an important victory in the first round but losing the runoff,

00:26what does this mean for Ecuador's left?

00:30Well, we think we're leaving, there is a general confusion about the results but also a big question

00:38about what are the reasons why the electorate has chosen an option that according to critical

00:44analysis of social sciences represents inequality and social chaos since there is a significant

00:51difference between Gonzales and Novoa's preferences as recorded before the election through polls,

00:57there is a right to request a recount and social movement, we are supporting that decision.

01:03Rosa Gonzalez has to ask for, to demand of a recount of votes.

01:09I think people are currently thinking about how to resist a government agenda that will surely

01:17deepen poverty, forced immigration and violence.

01:26Maria Fernanda, if Citizens Revolution Party rejects the results indefinitely how might this

01:30affect Ecuador's governance especially amid ongoing crisis like crime and also economic instability?

01:37Yes, I think that maybe crime rates will surely, I think surely for sure, crime rates will increase child labor and drug trafficking.

01:41networks will grow on indicators of suicide and collective psychological suffering will also become more acute.

01:57According to UNICEF, Ecuador has seen a 600 percent increase in child suicides in the last four years regarding human rights.

02:07human rights, the situation will worsen. We have now 27 missing persons in the four deaths of children at the hands of the military so far.

02:17So social activists will surely as well continue to be persecuted.

02:23Ecuador is currently the most violent country in Latin America and will unfortunately see worse days in terms of its disintegration as a nation.
