00:14it's a dream come true i have i've dreamt about that moment for as long as i can remember um i

00:21mentioned it out in the prize ceremony but watching tiger here in 1997 do what he did

00:29and winning his first green jacket i think that inspired so many of my generation to to want to

00:35emulate what what he did and um you know there were points in my career where i i didn't know if

00:42um i would have this nice garment over my shoulders but uh i didn't make it easy today

00:50i certainly didn't make it easy i um i was nervous it was one of the toughest days i've ever had on

00:56the golf course listen i i will not deny that the uh masters is special and that i mean it's very

01:04unique and the and the green jacket is the greatest thing in uh golf but i still will never back off

01:12of my belief that there is only one major that matters and that is the open uh the open championship

01:20over across the pond for the claret jug uh is just it's on another level for me it's a different

01:28plane it is the entirety of it everything about it the weather the wind the rain the cold the pot

01:36bunkers everything about it the the links golf even when they had the um you know you've had what is it

01:45uh all these competitions president's cup the rider cup when they have it at links courses in

01:51america whether it's a kiowa whether it's in wisconsin uh you know where i'm talking about

01:57they they try so hard to emulate what the greatest golf tournament in the world is the open and they

02:04play it at different courses all the time i think there's um familiarity at augusta with these golfers

02:11you cannot tell me that justin rose patrick reed fred couples bernard longer tiger woods they all know

02:19the course so well they know exactly where to hit the ball and they know exactly how to play the course

02:26none of them none of them have the answers over it in scotland they don't have the answers there

02:34nobody knows anything when they hit the ball there that is the greatest golf tournament in the world

02:39bar none i will never accept even though everyone else does i'm cool with it i get it the masters is

02:46the greatest golf tournament not in my world there's only one golf tournament that makes real uh you know

02:53real men go out and play in that thing like this isn't for the faint of heart and you know in america

03:00it rains and they're like oh it's raining at torrey pines everyone run for cover quickly all of us to

03:09the clubhouse will drink scotch in the bar with all the members and in london and in scotland and over

03:16there it rains you play in it or you go home there is none of this candy ass american golf i don't care what

03:24anybody says look i i think you're right on this point with the masters you know you can there are

03:31guys who have played this course so much that they know it's so well they only find them and not and

03:37honestly that's what that's what saved our weekend i mean we went through this last wednesday i wasn't

03:42playing rory just because i don't like playing guys under 10 to 1 to win but we did well because

03:48we had justin rose as top englishman we had patrick reed uh for big numbers for placements

03:53yeah we had some other things that salvaged now i could have did without lowry completely going in

03:59the tank yesterday and ruining that top five top 10 uh a guy finished like 40th uh and he was fifth

04:05going into the round i think he got drunk when rory started winning fair enough probably uh but you

04:11mentioned the open championship this year it's in northern ireland at royal port rush uh for rory

04:17this year at royal port rush in northern ireland and uh it's different every year it's different

04:24every year it's the most beautiful tournament in the world bar none it's better than everything

04:28and it's better than everything the rider cup it's better than everything it's better than all of it

04:34uh and listen you got big venues this year wells fargo i mean the uh quail hollow is gonna have the

04:39pga oakmont for the u.s open royal port rush for the open championship back in pittsburgh
