WWE Legend Bret Hart Compares WrestleMania 13 Match To UFC Fight, The Best Ever!

WWE legend Bret Hart is reflecting on his iconic WrestleMania 13 showdown with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin ahead of its Hall of Fame induction ... telling TMZ Sports it was by far "the best match I ever had."

00:00i feel really good about it i think um you know it's one of those kind of things that um

00:07you know even at the time like when going all the way back to 1997 and when we had that match

00:15you know i think the day that uh i pulled up at the building in chicago at the o'hare arena there

00:22like i i i didn't i didn't have the highest hopes big expectations of how good this match might be

00:29i was if anything i was feeling just the opposite that we were a little bit hand tough because we

00:35don't have pinfalls and that um it's a submission type match and it's you know it just wasn't that

00:41enthusiastic about it which maybe is why it kind of came out as well as it did it was just i remember

00:46feeling kind of dragging my feet going in the building and i sensed that steve was kind of

00:50feeling the same way like uh you know we got no pinfalls you know you lose that that false finish

00:58you know like you need those those one two oh you know like it's like and you what if you take

01:03those out of a wrestling match it's a lot harder it really is but i i know that um

01:10after the match like when it was over i i've always felt in my in my in my heart of hearts that um

01:21it was the best match i ever had like it was just so like when i watch it back today um and i've

01:30watched it back a lot of times i love watching it back it's it's just it's like listening to hey

01:35jude or something it's just like it's perfect you know it's such a good um such a good match and

01:42you know like everything flows it flows so nice from one move to the next move to the psychology of

01:49the like every little thing is perfectly done and i i just i just always always felt like at the time

02:00that like kind of like that that was the best match i ever had and you know and hasn't changed

02:07like over the years time goes by and you put this match on i had a lot of great matches that just

02:14did the same thing for me like the iron man match and wrestling my brother all one and mr perfect and

02:20roddy piper and different guys where i just is it's a beautiful song being sung and uh and but i don't

02:27think there was any match that stood out in my mind as being as good as the um the one i had with

02:34steve it was just and when i watch it i wouldn't take one thing out i wouldn't change one thing i

02:41wouldn't it's just a flawless match and uh i love um just the chemistry we had and i love the

02:50the workmanship i always think you know like when you watch the ufc

02:54and you see how how how the contact and the how serious it is and how you know the the physicality

03:07of it all but i always think you can put that that match with steve austin you can put it beside a ufc

03:14match and they're very comparable to each other which is the artistry of what what i do and what

03:20what steve did and uh it's it's such a beautiful violent match um um it's it's just so such a

03:31amazing physical outburst for both of us and uh i don't know that you can duplicate that um as all

03:41you know you can try and i'm sure wrestlers will try over the next hundred years to try to top that

03:49match or see who can have a better match than that one but you know i had so many great matches over

03:55my career but that's my number one match it always was you'd ask me six months after wrestling 13 i

04:02would say that's probably my greatest match and and i've always had that in my head i've had

04:07steve call me sometimes um you know going back to like 2008 or 10 or something like that where he

04:15called me and go i'm on my treadmill and i'm watching your i'm watching our match back and i

04:19just what a match you know and it's like i'm like oh i just watched it two weeks ago you know it's

04:25like it's it's just always been that match that is so fun to watch and uh you know i just always had

04:34so much love and respect for that match and uh you know so it's not i mean to me it's not a big

04:40surprise that that's the one match in my career that people are going that's going to be the

04:44first one inducted it should be the first one inducted and uh you know i have some others that

04:49are you know might give me a fourth and fifth and sixth kind of um on or somewhere down the road but

04:55you know the wrestling 13 match was just it's a beautiful match and uh you know i love

05:04the match i have with my brother owen i love the match i have mr perfect and roddy piper and

05:10you know undertaker at summer slam and uh you know the iron man match with sean michaels is

05:16is a very close second to that match you know they're they're so perfectly executed and uh such

05:24beautiful stories and the layer upon layer and layer of psychology and sort of the timing and the

05:31execution of the moves is is beautiful and um you know i have a quite a few matches that i

05:39feel are worthy of the same honor but uh to be honest the the rest of may 13 has always been my

05:47my favorite match ever on top of everything working that we just did in the ring we pretended to be

05:54quite heated with each other and got he got mad at me and i got we kind of had to be i ever chief

05:59jay strombo grabbed me by the arm and pulled me away from him and we were like it was almost like we're

06:03going to come to blows in the bathroom or the shower or wherever it was and um and her chief

06:10kind of grabbed me and pulled me away and go okay just forget about it relax take it it's done you

06:14know and uh and it was there was those extra little bits where you guys we thought we could get into so

06:20much trouble but um you know that's what that's what kind of professionals we were i was and uh i i

06:28i don't know that i could have had the same match with anybody else and i think if you were a ufc fighter

06:34you would look at my match with steve austin go that's the best match ever that one stands up with

06:41the best ufc fights it's it seems like a real brawl and a real dog fight and that's what we wanted it to

06:48be and it's it's a it's a beautiful song
