For the first time, Taiwan prosecutors is charging a Chinese ship captain with cutting one of the country's undersea cable. Authorities say the vessel deliberately damaged Taiwan’s critical infrastructure.

00:16The vessel was seen loitering near the undersea cable just days before it was cut.

00:20Despite multiple attempts, Taiwanese authorities couldn't establish contact with the vessel.

00:25The Coast Guard later boarded the ship and detained the crew for investigation.

00:30The seven crew members have not been charged due to a lack of evidence, and they're now

00:34being sent back to China.

00:36This is one of at least two cable-cutting incidents this year involving China-linked ships.
