00:00Yeah, why don't you tell me about the importance of the gym to the community and to yourself?

00:15Right, are you really important?

00:17Yeah, yeah.

00:18Okay, so, firstly, I came here many years ago with a spinal injury.

00:22What I didn't realise I was going to get by joining this gym,

00:26is that when everybody just about from here is disabled,

00:30mental health issues, everything like that,

00:32but nobody wants them.

00:33Everybody is just there to support one another.

00:36The feeling and friendship, nobody judging you.

00:39You come in, you can do your work, you can do anything,

00:42and everybody feels the same.

00:44Absolutely broken parts of the body,

00:46the manner in which the gym is floating,

00:48there is nowhere else for a university to go.

00:51There goes time for illnesses or disablements,

00:53whatever you want to call it.

00:55It's so important to every member of this gym.

00:58We've had all sorts of issues going on in the gym,

01:01we've got floods coming through,

01:02we've got water pockets everywhere, workmen,

01:04and yet we still keep coming.

01:06I have to take two buses to get here,

01:08I still keep coming.

01:09It doesn't matter what you throw at us,

01:11every member of this gym will see you.

01:13It doesn't matter what it is.

01:15Unfortunately, this has been taken out of our hands,

01:18and it's just such a community for everybody that attends this gym.

01:24Everybody knows one another.

01:26Nobody is isolated.

01:27It's just not that vibe,

01:28and you won't get back anywhere else.

01:30It's just too in real to let this go,

01:33and it needs to be re-booked out.

01:35As to the damage, it's going to do long-term

01:39to people with mental health and disablements.

01:42And I know certainly of one person

01:44that said he comes here every one hour a week,

01:46and he's housebound,

01:48and now he says he'll never get out of that house now

01:50because he cannot come here.

01:52And that's the level of hurt

01:54that is going to affect people.

01:56Yeah, yeah, that's brilliant.
