China is building the world's biggest military command center, and new satellite images show it's progressing fast.

00:00China is building the world's biggest military command center, 10 times the size of the Pentagon.
00:06Intelligence analysts call it Beijing's military city, sitting 18 miles southwest of the capital.
00:12Experts believe its main purpose is to prepare for a war with the US,
00:16with bomb-proof bunkers designed to shield China's top officials from a nuclear attack.
00:22New satellite images show China is building fast.
00:25In 2022, you can still see some residential homes. A year later, gone.
00:32In 2024, construction took off, with deep holes sprawling 1,500 acres.
00:39Imagery analysts say that these blue areas are probably covered with fabric,
00:43or a mix of seed and mulch, that prevent the displaced soil from blowing around.
00:48There are at least 100 cranes at work daily.
00:52China is mostly keeping the project secret, banning drones or any pictures of the complex,
00:57according to reports.
00:59The Chinese embassy in Washington has said they're not aware of the details.
01:03US intelligence officials say they're monitoring the situation,
01:07and President Trump is calling for a next-generation Iron Dome,
01:11a missile defense shield for the US.
01:13Meanwhile, China is growing its nuclear arsenal.
01:16The Pentagon projects it could have 1,500 operational nuclear warheads by 2035,
01:23almost matching the United States.
