D.L. Hughley is ripping Bill Maher for breaking bread with President Trump at the White House ... and he says they're sounding a little too similar these days, at least to his ears.

00:21vociferous opponent of woke i can't even tell differentiate some of the things that the

00:26administration has said about the woke uh phenomenon and he has so i think they have a

00:31lot in common bill maher i know disagrees with a lot of what donald trump has said and done and he's

00:36talked about that he he does agree with donald trump on the woke issue and he said that woke was a good

00:44thing initially taken way too far by the democratic party so but hold on hold on let me just make my

00:51point why do you have to paint somebody as 100 wrong you might agree with them on one thing or

00:58another why not say it because you have more credibility about the things you disagree with

01:03if you can say that woke is not making uh making harriet tubman and black heroes disappear from

01:08no you're right you're right and i think he spearheaded that it's really his position on woke

01:13see it's easy for a lot of americans to not take this personally because it's not their history uh that

01:18is being dismantled it is not their uh their uh uh uh resume that is being questioned i think he had

01:25a lot to do with that i think that some of the things that he said is not discernibly different

01:29from what trump says so for me if i were a single if it were a single issue for me it is that a lot of

01:34what he says sounds so much like trump i think if you're if you're a if you're a single rich straight

01:41white guy you don't have any kids you got a lot of money there is nothing that trump can do or has

01:46done that affects you uh in on the margins so you get to be glib and you get to be uh you know

01:52neutral don't so i i'm not angry at him doing it i just think that he has been he has said some

01:58things i find terribly offensive i think that he has been a spearhead and a speaker for the anti-woke

02:05mentality and i i resent the fact that woke was taken over by the left it was black people dealing

02:12with being aware of their circumstances being aware of what was going around and then it became

02:15but that's what screwed it up then there's no that's what screwed it up it wasn't right right

02:25of people think it has just gone ridiculously too far is there is there any value dl is there any value

02:31if you're bill maher and uh or anyone and you go and meet with the president if you have an

02:37opportunity to actually say to him listen i i think that what you're doing with x y and z

02:43is just wrong stop it we're talking about donald trump if you have the opportunity to say that

02:48would would you not take that opportunity donald trump didn't listen to his closest advisors

02:57on earth i think that he is transactional in nature i think that everybody he doesn't do anything unless

03:12is doing is not embraced by bill maher about scrubbing harriet tugman or jackie robinson the

03:18only way you could have like if you're pete hetsman and and and the debacle that happened

03:23to insult to insult black people and say the only white men belong in this because what we are looking

03:29at right now is a white only sign every time a black person or a woman or a gay person gets something

03:34there are men who believe they only got it because of some set-aside program and and i think bill maher

03:41was integral and amplifying that message i do i listen to him all the time and it was always even

03:46when he was talking to don lemon there's no way in hell a black person the only way you could be

03:52unqualified and and and uh do the things pete hetsbeth did is to be a white guy you can only be an

03:58unqualified white guy but if you see a black person in any position you best believe that they're more

04:03than qualified and men like that uh donald trump and and and eli musk and bill maher to a great

04:09degree have have have amplified this narrative to the extent that everybody believes it and it's

04:14insulting to me
