Former Sheffield United star Phil Jagielka took part in the SkyBet EFL Every Minute Matter relay, running from Bramall Lane to Hillsborough to raise awareness about learning CPR

00:00Yeah it's not been a bad place for us to go over recent years but yeah for a very good course

00:05obviously as you can see behind us every minute matters it's Skybet's to raise awareness for

00:12CPR in and around obviously the games most of the time but you know fair enough you just log

00:17on to the British Heart Foundation you can do a little reviver test I've done it myself

00:21and you can educate yourself in potentially which would be quite a scary proposition is

00:26to potentially save someone's life which you can't do anything better you know to have the

00:30possibility to be able to do so and educate yourself to to help someone who obviously

00:35needs a lot of help will be amazing thing to do and it's the easiest easiest tool to click on and

00:40you just click on the top of the page obviously revive buttons there and within 15 minutes you've

00:43done it but I don't think the actual I think it's probably the more nervousness and the apprehension

00:49of actually what you need to do I think you probably over complicate yourself in your head

00:52and I say if you're able to log on to the British Heart Foundation and click on the link you'll

00:58realize it is quite simple still scary because obviously you're you're potentially saving

01:02someone's life but I'd much rather someone if it was me I've done the test or even tried the best

01:09because obviously it can make a massive difference and it has become more prevalent recently we've

01:13seen a lot of you know particularly young people as well in recent years yeah I've played in many

01:18games where the game's been stopped for five or ten minutes and you know something's going in a

01:22crowd obviously there's been a few players as well I've obviously collapsed on the picture in

01:26training so yeah it seems to happen a little bit more often these days not 100% sure why but

01:32again the campaign's fantastic it's not asking you to pledge any money just asking you to

01:36educate yourself and and give a little bit of time and as I said before if you can be that person that

01:42that potentially saves someone's life you know it's an amazing thing to be able to do

01:46have you got 5k in the legs to hit I think it's 7k so yeah yeah yeah but I've just said the last

01:52bit's uphill so I might need someone coming to give me a little nudge for the last little bit but

01:56no the day's fantastic it's a great cause to come and have a run and it gives me excuse to

02:07I'm from Leeds and I'm taking part in the Skybet EFL Every Minute Matters relay

02:14this is a country-wide charity event that is spanning across all 72 EFL clubs lasting 28 days

02:22it is going across every single EFL club fans from all clubs are either running walking or cycling

02:31from club to club hoping to raise the awareness of why it's so important to learn CPR only one

02:38out of 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and it's so important to learn CPR

02:44you can learn CPR for free with the British Heart Foundation's Reviver tool it takes just

02:5115 minutes and you could save a life for every minute that passes by where somebody doesn't

02:56receive CPR during a cardiac arrest the chances of survival go down by 10% so it's so important

03:04to learn CPR and this relay is just all about spreading the awareness and why it is so important

03:10for people to learn CPR for free. We set out this campaign at the start of May last year for fans

03:17we wanted over 270,000 football fans to learn CPR we have just last week passed that number so

03:24we're really happy about that the new target is 360k by the end of May which is a punchy target

03:32but hopefully we can hit it and yeah just really really important for people to learn

03:37CPR so you can do that through British Heart Foundation Reviver
