He just came in and said he thought his team deserved to win, I wonder if he thought maybe your team deserved to win?
00:06
I think we are all slightly biased as coaches and we definitely look at our side of the elephant.
00:17
It's probably difficult to look from the other side of the elephant unless you are on top of it.
00:22
I felt we performed well and I felt that we were clearly on top in the first half.
00:29
We definitely got momentum, had better opportunities, probably should have scored.
00:33
I thought the second half was more even, they were a bit more on the ball.
00:38
I thought throughout the game we defended very well.
00:42
We limited Chelsea to half a chance for James on a corner, the rest for me was shots outside the box.
00:51
Which we were quite happy with.
00:54
Then I thought we were really straight going forward, really good to go behind them, really good to run at them.
01:00
And for me, maybe I'm slightly biased, I saw five very good chances to us.
01:07
If you look at the big chances then probably up there for that.
01:11
The Wisse header, the Dams chance, the Brian shot on a transition, the Keane free header on a set piece and of course Sepp's big header.
01:24
So I think if there should have been a winner, I think it should have been us.
01:27
I thought it was an even game, a good game between two teams.
01:30
Very happy with our performance against a top club.
01:34
Spent a few quid on players over the last year or two.
01:37
And a good manager and their world coach.
01:40
I was listening to you there, you said you defended well, but maybe in the second half attacking in general is more difficult.
01:47
Do you wish you had maybe more options on the bench?
01:51
No, I think that's spot on.
01:54
I think if you look at okay quality players they put on the pitch.
01:59
I think it's called Neto, I think it's called from Wolves, 50, 60 million.
02:03
Called Palmer, maybe one of the best tens in the division.
02:06
Jackson, done brilliantly for them.
02:08
And what did it go, Gorilla?
02:10
One more?
02:12
So I think it's fair to say they had a little bit more to shoot with than us.
02:15
We have that in our squad, unfortunately some of them are injured.
02:18
So I think again if we had something to shoot with I think maybe they would have tipped it even more.
02:22
You said it was unfair that Chelsea had to play Thursday for a quick turnaround.
02:27
I know they're able to make changes like Madaway came and come again,
02:31
you came to the Prime International and come again.
02:33
Do you have much sympathy for that?
02:40
I think that must be his opinion.
02:46
You know, it's football.
02:48
I know there are many games and a big programme.
02:54
I can just look from our perspective.
02:56
We try to deal with it when we have short turnarounds.
03:03
I think it does.
03:05
To be fair to that, I think it does.
03:07
But that happens all the time.
03:09
I think once this season we felt that we were the team that had the least rest between games
03:18
before we played our quarter-final against Newcastle.
03:21
And the furthest away of all the other bigger clubs.
03:24
So that definitely got bigger squads.
03:27
That was the only time I raced it because I don't think it was fair.
03:30
All of them had one more day.
03:32
So I think the 24 hours means something.
03:34
If we have two days between, we'll deal with it, we'll manage, no problem.
03:36
Three days, that's good.
03:39
Always, that's not a problem.
03:41
Then there's a bigger talk about the amount of games over a year.
03:46
Not for us.
03:48
But if we play a lot in Europe and go far in the Cups and all that
03:53
and need to play the Club World Cup, which is still ridiculous in my opinion,
03:57
then I don't understand this too much.
04:00
Can I follow on that?
04:02
Why is the Club World Cup ridiculous?
04:04
You know, it's just another tournament.
04:06
So how many wants the Club World Cup?
04:09
Do you want it?
04:11
No.
04:13
It's one of the few, I think.
04:17
Will you watch it?
04:19
Me? No. I'll enjoy my summer.
04:22
No chance.
04:24
Does it ruin the competitive balance as well?
04:27
Because there's going to be two quads in the Premier League
04:30
with over 100 million revenue extra.
04:32
Does that concern you?
04:33
I think, from my point of view and where we are,
04:37
we can't really compete with that sort of money.
04:41
The good pitch is actually to compete out here.
04:44
So that's what I'm very proud of,
04:46
even though they have hundreds of millions more to spend than us.
04:50
And if I should say one thing I said,
04:52
I think we were closer to winning than they were,
04:54
which I'm very proud of.
04:56
The President hasn't won a home game.
04:59
You're so positive and now you're calling that a question.
05:01
I was about to say.
05:03
You might be looking inwards sometimes,
05:06
but after a performance like that,
05:08
it probably doesn't do nothing because you feel
05:10
that you were the better team and you had quite conceivably
05:13
enough chances to win that game on the day.
05:15
I understand why you have to ask the question,
05:19
because you haven't won in eight games.
05:21
Of course, it's definitely a stat I prefer not to have.
05:25
The same way we couldn't win in the beginning of the season
05:27
away from home.
05:29
We won five on a bounce.
05:31
Sometimes it goes up and down.
05:33
This season, sometimes it's not.
05:35
But it's down to our performances,
05:37
which we always look at.
05:39
I think we've been really consistent in performance
05:41
throughout this season.
05:43
We just played two good games against two good teams,
05:46
Newcastle and Chelsea.
05:48
Everybody expects to fight for the Champions League spot.
05:50
Both games should easily have won,
05:53
which I'm very, very proud of.
05:56
Today, I agree, we performed more than well enough to win.
05:59
Same against Everton.
06:01
Same against Tottenham.
06:03
It's just games that we couldn't edge.
06:16
I think they looked good before Sepp got injured.
06:19
I think they're a really good, interesting partnership.
06:22
I think they performed well today.
06:26
I like that.
06:33
Sometimes it's a relationship between the two of them.
06:37
I think they're very good to communicate
06:40
and, how can you say, guide each other,
06:43
which is a big thing in the middle of the pitch.
06:55
Fine. Solid. Good. Happy.
07:04
Do you find it affecting football negatively now?
07:06
Do you find it when you play teams who have been in Europe?
07:09
There's a lot of talk as well about how this Premier League season
07:12
is beginning to feel a little bit flattering.
07:18
I don't know what the right thing is,
07:21
what is the perfect calendar.
07:24
But the intensity in football goes up,
07:28
Premier League, European football.
07:30
There's no doubt there is a limit
07:33
to how good you can perform
07:37
or at what intensity you can keep performing at over a year.
07:41
That will affect performances.
07:44
That will affect players.
07:46
That will give more injuries.
07:48
Do we need bigger squads then or not?
07:51
Or do we need to find a better calendar? I don't know.
07:53
One thing for sure, we can't keep adding, adding, adding.
07:56
It doesn't work.
