00:00Following the palace reassurance to the public on the new tariffs imposed by the United States

00:05on imports from over a hundred trading partners including the Philippines, House Ways and

00:10Means Committee Chair Joey Salceda believes that the policy shift could also present potential

00:15opportunities.

00:16Salceda acknowledged that sovereign nations have their right to set their own trade policies

00:22and expressed surprise that the tariffs imposed on the Philippines were lower than he initially

00:27expected.

00:28He further noted that compared to its competitors, the Philippines faces relatively lower retaliatory

00:34tariffs suggesting that there may be opportunities worth exploring despite the new trade measures.
