00:14The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water announces
00:18the commissioning of a new sea water discharge station
00:21to secure drinking water supply in the city of Sidi Ifni
00:26and neighboring towns in the provinces of Sidi Ifni and Tiznit.
00:30As a result of an investment of nearly 320 million dirhams,
00:34the project, carried out by LONI and financed by a loan from the German Development Bank,
00:38consists in its first phase in the construction of a discharge station
00:42with a capacity exceeding 8,000 m3 per day, i.e. 100 liters per second.
00:47This project uses the reverse osmosis technique and exploits the latest technologies
00:52in energy recovery to optimize the production cost of 1 m3 of saline water.
00:58As part of the National Water Supply Programme 2020-2027,
01:05this new station will allow to safely discharge an estimated population of 85,000 inhabitants
01:12and to relieve the pressure on the Jusef Benteschwin dam used until then for this purpose.
