A short history of Caterpillar machinery

00:00Hello, my name is Graeme Farmer. I work for Westrac, the Caterpillar dealer in Western

00:07Australia and have done for 40 years. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Caterpillar

00:17organisation after the formation of the Best Tractor Company and the Holt Tractor Company

00:25and in 1925 became the Caterpillar Tractor Company. So today this display has been put

00:31on by TrackMac and we're celebrating the 100 years of Caterpillar. First of all as you

00:37can see behind me is a Caterpillar 60. They originally came out grey and in about 1931

00:46they changed from grey to Caterpillar yellow. Since then the Caterpillar product has progressed

00:55and now we're at a stage where the technology in all these new machines is of such a high

01:00standard that we can now talk to machines all over the world from a central department.
