Myanmar and Thailand Rocked by Powerful Earthquake

A 7.7 earthquake in Myanmar has caused panic as far away as Bangkok in neighboring Thailand. The U.S. Geological Survey says casualties could be as high as 10,000.

00:00A 7.7 magnitude earthquake has left at least 20 people dead in Myanmar.

00:13Roads, bridges and buildings have been damaged in Myanmar with emergencies declared in six

00:20regions including in the capital. Powerful tremors were felt in neighbouring countries

00:25like Thailand and China. In Bangkok, dramatic footage shows a building

00:30collapsing. At least 80 workers were reportedly inside the under-construction 30-storey tower

00:37when the quake hit and at least three of them are dead.

00:41Thailand has declared a state of emergency. Taiwan has prepared a search and rescue team

00:45to provide assistance if requested.
